Why not just use a block update detector to set off some TNT? More explody, works if they dig from the side, more explody and easier to build.

She was also mildly weird so probably thought she could channel Chappu through Wakka or something.

Diablo III sells 6.3 million Life-To-Date, 3.5 million In First 24 hours by mehgandavidin Games

Yes and then nobody buys Ubisoft's games on PC.

We can moan all we want about Blizzards net tied policies but at least they are offering some useful features.

Bollocks will game pads ever work as well as a mouse and keyboard for this. Lag aside I could fire off 5/6 actions for every action your average console gamer could achieve. This and I suck. Good players will do 10:1.

If they want to test this they should have cross platform PvP. The consoles will get crushed as they always do in such tests.

Honestly balancing is not possible without real life context. Look at SC2. Ghosts were fricking ridiculous. Nobody knew until well into the life cycle of the game because Terrans were beating everyone with MMM.

Admittedly it is probably harder to balance SC2 because races are in contention in a way classes are not. However it is impossible to see what balance is until we see it in use.

So there is a tactical RTS in the vein of Company of Heroes/Men of War/Supreme Commander that should be more popular... $20 by fldashin Games

[–]G_Morgan 1 point2 points ago

Tactical to me seems to suggest more like ground control where there is no production. SupCom is strategy focused rather than tactically focused. Whenever you expand the scale you are moving away from tactics and towards strategy. In fact the whole point of SupCom was that the lead designer thought RTS should be called RTT and wanted real strategy.

Britain may not be able to afford 'special relationship' with US, General Sir David Richards warns: Britain could soon be forced to abandon the “special relationship” with the United States because it may not be worth the cost in military spending, the head of the Armed Forces said Wednesday. by davidreiss666in unitedkingdom

[–]G_Morgan 0 points1 point ago

I'm talking about the US. The US already is forming a closer relationship with Japan. It isn't a theory. The pacific arena is what the US is concerned about and only partners who may impact the pacific arena have any serious pull with them.

Nigel Farage offers Tories a deal on Europe: it’s an opportunity and a pitfall for Labour by igeldardin ukpolitics

[–]G_Morgan 0 points1 point ago

Getting #1 and #2 in European elections don't mean anything. European elections are precisely a protest vote against European elections.

There was little on it in the general election debates other than mandated questions. Most of the stuff on there was budget balancing and what particular leaders were going to do to reform welfare. Also a lot about house flipping and sleaze. Very little actually talked about Europe.

Sweden moves to outlaw forced marriages by arte_misiain worldnews

[–]G_Morgan 0 points1 point ago

A lot of this tends to be a case of legal strengthening. I imagine it was the case that nobody could be married without consent. It just makes it a crime to force someone to give consent.

Same as slavery was not technically a crime in the UK even though slavery has never been legal in the UK. It was never legally possible to own a slave in the UK. It just wasn't a specific criminal offence. Until the law was changed recently any slave owner would have been charged for abridging the particular rights and freedoms of the slave rather than with a specific offence of slavery.

Battle.net passwords are not case-sensitive? by Ilyanepin starcraft

[–]G_Morgan 0 points1 point ago

The reason it is too low is the best passwords are probably XKCD style 4/5 memorable words. Theoretically 16 characters is a lot of combinations. If people start employing that XKCD style there aren't enough characters to use it safely.

Yeah and if you look at the people above us there are very few bastions of civilisation in there.

In terms of crimes reported. Britain does pretty well on this front because our police are:

  1. Generally non corrupt.

  2. Not likely to shoot you, your kid or your dog if they are called out as in some nations.

Was classical BASIC ever used for commercial software development? by Rachel53461in programming

I can't remember precisely which numbers triggered the behaviour. PHP casts numbers to a float. In a lot of cases this involves truncation. Those particular numbers may not actually end up being broken but the system at large is.

Nigel Farage offers Tories a deal on Europe: it’s an opportunity and a pitfall for Labour by igeldardin ukpolitics

[–]G_Morgan 0 points1 point ago

As I said lots of the public dislike Europe. Nobody seriously considers it a relevant election topic. The public position is that they don't really care but if pushed would prefer out than in. The public aren't going to tolerate parties wasting time on the issue. They never have and aren't likely to now.

If the Tories make a big fuss over it the net result will be detrimental to them.

The US aside we are world leaders in locking people up. The only nations perpetually worse than us are dictatorships.

Also regardless the whole point of the article is recidivism rates are higher for criminals punished by prison.

Meh to be fair he probably was going to get downvoted. Reddit goes through its mood swings. Today any criticism of criticism is valid. Defence of criticism is not. That is half the problem with Reddit and the community in general. None of this resolves the issue. Having a cool video with lots of upvotes won't achieve anything.

The fact is on the whole witch hunt stuff that some of it is valid, some of it stupid, some hilarious in a train wreck manner. Almost all of it goes way too far but that doesn't mean there isn't necessarily an underlying point.

I don't think trying to whitewash the criticism is any better than the witch hunting. Some of it is valid. It is really sad that when the community ganged up on HD that it got overly personal. However there was some valid criticism in there and HD has taken it on board.

It'd be nice if we could all do criticism in a civilised manner but I don't think reality works like that. As much as people moan about witch hunting, stuff all happens without witch hunts. It is very rare a point can be made in a civilised manner and somebody will take note. It is a sad reality that nobody pays attention unless a mob is gathering and also the mob enjoys gathering. It is an unsolvable problem and isn't going away any time soon.

I'd be happy for people to propose solutions. However right now the only mechanism the community has for getting itself listened to is train wreck style. They do it because shit moves when the pitch forks come out. The solution isn't to moan about that but find a way to make people happy before the mob gathers. People aren't going to abandon this behaviour unless a sensible alternative is proposed.
