What Ash's caterpie is evolving? by MooberGoobersin gaming

I feel like this headline is missing some punctuation. Compare:

What, Ash's caterpie is evolving?

What? Ash's caterpie is evolving?

What [which] Ash's caterpie is evolving?

You do realize, I (and most likely you also) both discovered it when it was submitted to this very subreddit over one year ago.

Hah, that brought back memories of working on a school's database system for a while. We kept on hitting bugs in the system regarding parents of record, divorces, and same-sex couples. Originally the system couldn't handle anything other than a student with one father and one mother. After quite a few patches to handle most of the edge cases I think you can have as many parental units as you want, but it only allows one father and one mother to be parents of record.

And of course, the classic reference on institutional approaches to non-standard marriage situations. http://qntm.org/gay

Bill passes to eliminate bonuses for Freddie and Fannie execs by Wriiightin economy

[–]FlyingBishop 0 points1 point ago

I don't know what kind of bonuses these are, but I assume they're the golden handcuffs kind that you owe back prorated daily for the days you should have worked this year if you quit. So yeah, the company gives these guys 5 million, today, but if they quit in July they still owe the company 2.5 million back.

The "bonus" concept has everyone imagining these as handouts, but far from getting rid of bonuses we should scale their salaries down to a pittance and give them a bonus every month that they have to work for a year to keep.

Presidential candidate Rocky Anderson on gay rights by 2punchpikeyin lgbt

[–]FlyingBishop 6 points7 points ago

Also, this imgur link is stupid and one-dimensional. All I know about Rocky Anderson is that he's a showboater who's down with queer. That's great, but I still don't know who he is.

STD testing is fucking expensive, even at PP. When I donate this week I'm making sure they know I'm most concerned about uninsured people having access to STD testing.

The "engage" tattoo was the money shot as far as I'm concerned.

Someone apparently hacked a banner on the Susan G. Komen website last night. Awesome. by radtasticin TwoXChromosomes

[–]FlyingBishop 15 points16 points ago

Somehow I'm pretty sure that was not a hack but someone whose authorization to modify that page has since been revoked.

I have my problems with Obama, but DADT was a BFD and with all the other shit he's been dealing with I'm amazed he managed to get anything done on the lgbt front.

In the beginning, Facebook had a plaintext wall. It was beautiful compared to the riot of video, music and pictures that was MySpace. Now, the only thing that separates Facebook from MySpace is the lack of user-styling, and the massive picture behind the picture at the top almost matches MySpace's potential for disaster.

A breach is generally described as an overload. When the power fails, it explodes, the power doesn't drop.

And the way it's portrayed there's always something of a balancing act; you never know what the difference between overload and high load is Especially since the Enterprise is some of the most cutting edge tech in the fleet. This isn't an airplane that is basically the same as all the others and has well-understood engineering techniques. This is practically a prototype with the best engineers in the federation constantly testing its limits.

How long have they had this feature? When are they planning on replacing it? I hate Facebook because I have absolutely no idea how I'm supposed to use it, and any settings I made last year have been invalidated by their so-called innovation.

The new timeline looks basically like MySpace. Sure, it's not user-style-able, but it's the same layout, which is obnoxious.

Do you have a PhD in CS? Because even if you do, more problems crop up with your average computer in a day than you can solve in a year.

"Abort, Retry, Fail" are often your only options. Just keep hitting retry, and maybe abort and try another action.

It's a lot like Family Guy. The best episodes were the ones when they were terrified Fox would cancel them (because Fox did cancel them.) Now that they have no fear, the writing is just emptier.

Censorship is evil. End of story. Everyone thinks "oh, I only want to block <X>," but you can't just block <X>. Someone out there is going to twist the block to get rid of <Y> and even <Z>.
