This article is chock full of common sense. Thanks for posting.

Group wants marijuana possession decriminalized in Grand Rapids by stackableballsin grandrapids

Don't miss the poll on Mlive, so far the numbers are overwhelmingly in favor of decriminalization: http://www.mlive.com/opinion/grand-rapids/index.ssf/2012/03/should_marijuana_be_decriminal.html#incart_river_default

Is he a weatherman or possibly in to hallucinogens? Either way I am not questioning his judgement.

Same. Amash seems intent on thinking for himself and doing the right thing. I disagree with most of his political beliefs but I still like him.

What is GReddits thoughts on MLive Media Group? by AthensRivalin grandrapids

[–]FlourChild 1 point2 points ago

A friend of mine just resigned from his long time editorial position there, which was not exactly a vote of confidence for the re-org. It's easy to sit back and bash them but in reality this is not an easy transition. If you step back and look at the big picture they have to change due to market forces beyond their control.

West Michigan and WOOD TV8 on the Colbert Report last night. by noahlikethearkin grandrapids

Excellent point. But it is more fun to mock the government and claim they are idiots, so you will get down voted. If there ever is an emergency that requires ice due to massive power outages, reddit will be inaccessible but we'll be thinking about you and wishing we could upvote your comment.

The News Forecast --- Recorded Future's first investors were Google and the CIA. Their aim? To make the future calculable, from politics to finance. No foreign policy experts or traders, just statisticians and algorithms. Is this the future of big data? by DrRichardCraniumin business

If I log in one day and everything on Recorded Content is about Recorded Content, I'll be growing concerned about that thermodynamic business you speak of.

It will be interesting to track the accuracy of these predictions. Might be a cool sub-reddit some day. I'm assuming the system will learn from it's mistakes, but that would be another question to ask these folks. Overall I think they need to lower expectations a bit.

While I greatly appreciate your work as moderator on this sub-reddit, I strongly disagree with your opinion that the underlying cause (and blame therein) of the financial crisis should not be considered relevant to r/Economics. In fact I can't think of a more relevant topic right now, given the possibility of further problems related to past mistakes.

How does this article differ from the 30 other links that were not removed that also discuss blame and the financial crisis?

This was pretty blatant. Those of you who have read "Boomerang" by Michael Lewis might know that folks from Citigroup, Morgan Stanley and Goldman have taken these behaviors global and several countries (not just Greece) are now threatened by exploitative and reckless investing.

Well the tone of my comment sounded a little arrogant -- I was parroting the article title and that was not my intent. I don't want to dig deeper into the epidemiological implications of cosleeping, but I will say that great parents like you* also make great cosleepers. *Of course I can't tell for sure that you are a great parent by reading your reddit postings but I would bet on it.

Sorry if I offended you, I am a parent too and I didn't realize that you would take issue with a link to an article about co-sleeping. Robert Wright is not a random foreign policy blogger (not even close) -- see background and awards here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Wright_(journalist)

Your comment "my subconscious thinks we're all living in a cave" led me to believe that you might appreciate the genesis of Robert Wright's thinking on the matter.

Some interesting new research on dreaming has revealed that dreams are likely an adaptation that has developed in order to help prepare us for events that we might experience in real life. Your dreams seem to be doing an abnormally good job of preparing you for the potential danger of a toddler on the loose at night. There is nothing wrong with you or abnormal about this type of dream, in fact you are now very well prepared for such an event, I would guess. Count yourself lucky that you live in a world where the threat of danger through dreaming is your biggest concern.

Edit: Here is a link to information on Threat Simulation Theory of dreaming: http://dreamstudies.org/2008/08/01/an-evolutionary-theory-of-dreaming/
