Yeah, they are proprietary so you can fit a dual DVI card in a low profile PC like those. I have 80 of those im my office, they get annoying to account for. My general rule of thumb is the adapter never leaves the PC, that shit is married.

I would disagree. There is never any attempt to explain how this stuff works, and the tech has no real bearing on the story, it is all trappings. The most important fictional macguffin the the force, which is magic for all intents and purposes.
