Todd Howard is the reason why Bethesda only makes crappy sandbox adventure games instead of RPGs nowadays.

Catfish. Lots and lots of catfish. by TurtleCavein WTF

[–]ExpatinEgypt 0 points1 point ago

This looks like that protected part of the Chao Praya River in Bangkok...tons of Catfish there that always go to the same spot because tourists are constantly tossing them bread. AND there is no fishing allowed at all.

Apologies if this is a repost, but did anyone else notice this in the 2nd Prometheus trailer? by Ermyeahin movies

[–]ExpatinEgypt 6 points7 points ago

By 'traveler' do you mean Space Jockey? Basically the main, unseen antagonist race of Prometheus?

Sorry, I wrongly assumed this was from Fallout 3.

Do you mean the original Fallouts? Because that's what Bethesda is actually nodding to here.

A photo of mine has been used on 2 websites without my knowledge or permission (or payment)...any recourse? by ExpatinEgyptin photography

The link, yes - the photo credit, no...that's the old username I registered for Flickr with.

I realised that pretty soon after I posted the image, but I like the sentiment of my title better :)

Do you have a link to that story? I'd be interested to read about the legal aspects of that...if something is in a public space, like this statue, what recourse would a person have? That's like saying an architect can sue for profiting off a picture of his building.

Predator bust made with spare car parts by incubus666in movies

[–]ExpatinEgypt 0 points1 point ago

You can buy spare-part Aliens, Predators, Robocops, Darth Vaders and a wide variety of other models in virtually every south east Asian market for dirt cheap. I found life-size versions in Bangkok of Robocop and a Xenomorph.

The selective brightening of the main subject and the softening of the others really ruins this picture for me.

The official worst hotel in the world..."boasting levels of comfort comparable to a minimum-security prison." by pain_perduin WTF

[–]ExpatinEgypt 1 point2 points ago

I stayed here. I can confirm that it is, in fact, not the worst hotel in the world. I have stayed in much worse. Rooms at the Hans Brinker hostel do, however, look like a minimum security prison. It's in a great location within walking distances to central Amsterdam.

A Nikon User's Review of the Canon 5D Mark III by jseligerin photography

[–]ExpatinEgypt 2 points3 points ago

I guess not. But this begs the question: If you shoot weddings, don't want 36 MP, are worried about filling up your cards quickly and have the money to spare, why not just get a D4? From my perspective, the D800 shouldn't really be used for time-sensitive, "action" oriented shoots (weddings). It would be great if you're doing a structured shoot where you have control, but in a wedding/reception setting you're back to the old worry of running out of film/cards. Just my 2 cents.

I would buy a sequel to this game in a heartbeat. by Lemonwizardin gaming

Why is this not on Steam? Also, why did I never play it before? Lots of people go on about how great a game it is, but if it's not on Steam I can't buy it :-( (not that I won't buy it, but that it is impossible to buy anything legitimately in the country I live unless I can buy it from Steam).

You surely can. The author of the post is completely wrong. In addition to the full 36 MP mode, the D800 has a 15.3MP DX-format capture mode and a 25MP 1.2x Crop mode.
