I am a 23 year old American expat managing a vineyard in Chile. Yesterday there was a gigantic raging wildfire nearby. (5 pics) by EnoloFLin travel

Sorry that link didn't work. Here is the solution to all of your problems: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4USu84QxDA

Please understand that you are whining about something that I could only fix with a time machine, and that there are far greater injustices in the world.

So there was a gigantic raging wildfire near my vineyard in Chile yesterday... wind direction just may bring a catastrophic, premature ending to this whole project. (5 pics) by EnoloFLin wine

Well no, it isn't the same principle, because Champagne was the name of a region before it was synonymous with sparkling wines. If you applied the same principle then only Piscos made from grapes grown within the city of Pisco would be able to be called Pisco, and other liquors from Pisco grapes from Peru could not be called Pisco. Edit: punctuation

Haha well the Champagne rule comes from the AOC laws in France, so you're logic is flawed.

Not Chilean. I believe there is a dispute about whether it comes from Chile or Peru. But I'm pretty sure its actually from Peru.

i recorded a video on the same day I took those photos but the wind kinda ruined the audio. Should I still post it you think?

Ug. What an unsavory and annoying comment. Thanks for assuming the worst about me. There are probably two main reasons I included that in the title. First of all, I have found myself in a pretty unusual situation and I want to share it with reddit beyond these photos. I see and do a lot of shit that I think other people might find beautiful or interesting. So if I just posted the pics then when I post any more content it would be hard to connect myself as the person who took these pics. The second reason is that, if you are new to reddit, links with boring titles go nowhere. I really love reddit because it allows me to actually discuss directly with anyone who is interested. If my link goes nowhere, I get no discussion.

I would just be impressed that you found my doorstep without my help.

I would pick Uruguay for raising kids over Chile.

The country is really impressive in terms of natural beauty and diversity of landscape.

I haven't really noticed or taken issue with "lack of people", as the population is about 17 million. Most of them do live in cities, but this just means theres tons of prisitine wilderness, which for me is a huge plus of living here.

If he can find me in reality then he's probably pretty competent and committed, no?

I'll think about it. As we've learned from Woody Harrelson, AMAs are not to be taken lightly.

The smoke wasn't blowing our way yesterday. I don't believe it would have an effect unless it was prolonged. It also raises the chance of the spread of certain molds. And if the wind starts blowing our way I'll be worried about how the fire effects the grapes, rather than the smoke. edit: spelling error

Someone else mentioned this in my crosspost on r/travel. My response was "I'm not a huge fan of that subreddit, to be honest. I filmed a bit yesterday and I want to upload videos periodically. Perhaps I could answer questions found in the comments? It seems r/travel is a pretty good subreddit for this. Thoughts?"

Well, to be fair, I am not the owner. So it isn't MY vineyard. But I do have executive control over the viticulture.

I mean there are plenty of farmhands already. So I really have no need for help, except maybe a cameraman. But I don't have the money to pay anyone, nor the time to organize the logistics...

Yeah well its going to be in barrels for a long time, but I'm happy to accept your friend request. I'll definitely be posting more videos and anything I find interesting along the way. As a reddit addict I realize it would be stupid not to share the absurd situation I've found myself in.
