Wait, it's considered being a kindness to randomly hand money to kids?

My sentence about me being a mod was sarcasm. It was meant to elucidate the obvious difference between a mod speaking in an official function and me - not a mod - doing so. If you fail to see the difference I am certain that you also fail to understand the initial comment of mine.

Wow, I'm promoted to mods now? Blimey!

How is his amount of contribution relevant to his point? Do we HAVE to contribute to be part of reddit? You are being unnecessarily authoritative.

I find it strange how somebody who represents a rather pedantic moderation community can get so arrogant and rude when somebody legitimately points out that the same thing has been already submitted, several times.

Know your limits, mod. This dude just pointed out something that he (and many others, I assure you) felt like saying. Disagree with it? Downvote and move on, don't go showing off your pretty green colors.

To be honest, I just wanted to force some other poor soul to spend some seconds on this. It's justice.

Crazy good stop-motion animation from 1982 Soviet Russia remixed to Danger Mouse. by allswellinhellin videos

[–]Eluriel 4 points5 points ago

Soviet Russia had a beautifully developed cinema. Sure, there was censorship, especially in the older days. That just made people creative. And because censorship was sometimes random, some movies that directly parodied the regime came out because someone from the higher echelons of the party liked it.

300,000 times the strength of the Earth's magnetic field: BLADE's new 14 Tesla magnet by DrJulianBashirin science

[–]Eluriel 20 points21 points ago

Well, to be fair: "We invented a magnet a 300000 times stronger than an average refrigerator magnet!" sounds way less sensational. Even though it probably would be.

I have five pounds of local orange blossom honey, two 1gal jugs, air locks, access to a local homebrew store... and the will to succeed. by kodozokuin mead

[–]Eluriel 1 point2 points ago

Hey, I've just started my first double-one-gallon brew. I personally think that it's interesting to keep most of the variables the same whilst modifying only one. This way you can learn how exactly variables affect the end-product. I'm currently using the same honey (North Yorkshire Moors honey) whilst having different yeast (sherry & port).

What are your thoughts on the Free Software Movement, Linux, Open-source, etc..? by allnightgaragesalein communism

[–]Eluriel 8 points9 points ago

I think it's an interesting development. I'm especially fond of the open education movement as it allows for much deeper independent learning than before. (Thereby enabling workers to educate themselves rather separate from an academic establishment). Really curious about how this development will affect global consciousness.
