Would you be in favor of leaving Health Care up to States? by kingvitamanin PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Ebonyks 0 points1 point ago

I think you misread what i intended to say, I felt that drug patents ran in contrast with the ideals of a truly laissez-faire health care market.

In regards to your second point, that would be the FCC.

Would you be in favor of leaving Health Care up to States? by kingvitamanin PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Ebonyks 0 points1 point ago

The big objection I have to this market is the competitive advantages that are given to health care companies in America, such as drug patent laws. The idea of a truly Laissez-faire health care market has some serious flaws due to the way in which drugs and other medical equipment can be patented, and the buyer has the exclusive ability to set the price for a drug. This system has been shown to be abused time and time again, I can provide links if you need evidence.

The other question I'd ask is do you feel that states should have any oversight about the quality of care provided by doctors? At what point should medical negligence be assessed, for example? If health care exists in a truly free market, then what is in place to maintain quality of care over cutting the costs of providing care?

What's the best Documentary that's on YouTube about 9/11? not the conspiracy stuff but just about the event. by solaybroin Documentaries

[–]Ebonyks -1 points0 points ago

Not all of is is a conspiracy story though, you're just looking at a few pieces of the situation. What about the efforts of the volunteer firefighters during that event? I think that's a topic worthy of a documentary in itself, and while i can imagine it being a bit jingoistic, it's hard to deny the valor of people who'd risk their own health and well being to help people in the tragedy.

That's just one of the many stories that has arisen as a result of 9/11 that's independent of any government corruption or conspiracy which exists.

Hey guys, you must hear that pretty often but I'm completely new to this instrument (any* instrument, matter of fact) and need some advice! by lLoveLampin ukulele

[–]Ebonyks 2 points3 points ago

Another vote for not needing an expensive ukulele. I've been playing for five years, and while i started out buying an expensive instrument (240 dollar range), i'll find myself spending just as much time playing with more inexpensive instruments that i've purchased over the years.

The LU-21 (60-ish) is the base that i like to recommend, every one i've played has had decent intonation, and the nylagut strings are the best for beginners. You could use a cheaper instrument, but I think using a decent set of strings really makes a difference and is worth a few extra bucks when starting out, and it saves you the headache of either having to learn how to string it yourself, or find someone who can do it for you.

[–]Ebonyks 6 points7 points ago

Sure, but you're neglecting to see some of the reasons why the OP would want to watch such a documentary.

It's not about trying to dissect and understand 9/11, it's attempting to re-capture the initial experience of seeing the events fold out live. If you ask nearly person in america, they'll be able to tell you exactly what they were doing when the event occurred. I think that a mass cultural experience like this, suddenly presented with a traumatic event for the first time, is a profound moment to document in itself.

There's certainly a time and place for a more detailed breakdown of the story, and expanding on some of the more conflicting details of 9/11 (or how war was waged in the middle east as an indirect result), I have my own doubts on the topic, but to limit one's self to only viewing it from a standpoint of purely trying to understand the nuances of corruption, you overlook significant cultural milestones in us history.

Nokia 808 PureView Pre-Order Starts In India by Sshkin gadgets

Symbian? What an awful waste of what is likely a fantastic camera. The resolution for the main screen of the phone is straight out of 2009, I don't know how nokia could release such an outdated phone in this marketplace.

This product will be DOA. Hopefully the same camera will end up in windows 8 phones by nokia

Samsung Galaxy S3 Pre-Orders Reach 9 Million – Factories Running At Full Capacity. by presidenthomeboyin Android

Good to know, I wasn't aware of their increased outsourcing.

With that said, do you know if there are any indications of quality differences or component changes between the two?

[–]Ebonyks 0 points1 point ago

I'd think the Koreans would mostly be performing a majority of the hard labor (this is samsung we're talking about, not apple), and I've been told that Samsung products have become a point of national pride for the common man of South Korea and presumably the factory workers as well.

I wonder how long until this guy regrets his tattoo. by Aviationistin WTF

[–]Ebonyks 17 points18 points ago

I'm going to speculate on this one:

It's the rite of passage for a family of LSD manufactures, like the rainbow or fluff. The idea is that he can never shave his beard again, that he is branded for life. He is forced to always live as a hippy, and can never settle for the square life again.

It's a rite of passage and an initiation into an organization, not a petty family tribute.

Because the current stock which they were using in the front of the store was depleted would be the obvious answer.

What is the most romantic thing you have ever done? by Jurassic-Barkin AskReddit

[–]Ebonyks 1 point2 points ago

I secretly flew to the island on the caribbean to give a birthday surprise to my girlfriend at the time was returning to for school during break one year. We were in a long distance relationship, and didn't anticipate that we would be able to see each other for at least another six months. I got there a day early, and knew her flight time through a friend. I arrived at the airport early, and captured every person who walked through the doors, and explained my situation (It was a small island, and I knew most of the people walking through the gates). I managed to gather a crowd of at least 50-60 people when she finally came out. I hid in the back of the crowd and upon revealing myself, her jaw dropped, and she damn near tackled me with her sprinting embrace.

[–]Ebonyks 2 points3 points ago

It sounds like they ran out of sauce on the floor and had to go in back to get more... Doesn't seem like anything too unusual to me, i'd only be concerned if the food tasted notably different than normal.

Besides, it's subway, what degree of quality were you honestly anticipating?

I have to give this place props, while their tea isn't particularly my favorite (some of it seems old, and none of the staff seems to know which teas are from the most recent harvest), their food is delightful.

The anaba tearoom actually offered me a chance to throw a party for a CD release, i'd be happy to put the info on reddit when it occurs. Their openings always have lots of delicious free snacks.

The problem isn't the injury itself, the reason why this would likely be fatal is simply dehydration from blood loss. To keep alive with that injury, someone would need a high flow IV in place quickly before bleeding can be controlled. As is though, there's simply no way he'd make it without rapid control of blood loss. He could still be alive in that photo though, hard to tell.

That, and i'd be surprised if that guy didn't lose male reproduction function if he did somehow manage to make it through it all.
