Facebook's Stock May Keep Falling: 'There's No Bottom' by DonManuelin economy

I don't know about that. Even if that is true though, one can always buy put options.

I bet the same people are saying: "My god, FB is under $50 and Google/Apple are over $500!!!".

Those type of investors that don't do basic research before making a plunge should not be a major worry. The great thing about capitalism is that you are (mostly) free to do whatever you want with your money- even if that means making a gamble on something that you know very little about.

If you paid attention prior to the IPO, this was the number one thing people were talking about and why I immediately tried to short the stock on Friday.

Unfortunately, my brokerage didn't allow it :(

Where would you go if you could only pick one, Vienna or Prague? by whybeonein travel

[–]Dundun 0 points1 point ago

how many days do you have? 5 should be enough to see both, less than that and you'll be rushing it too much.

I believe the train trip is like 6 hours and they have an overnight one.

I went last year to both cities, here is where I stayed:

Prague: Sir Toby's - I really, really liked this hostel. The common areas are a little cramped, but very functional. They have lots of nightly events for people staying their. Front-desk staff was fine (not the greatest, definitely not the worst). Room was pretty good. Location isn't really in the main tourist area but is very close to both overground and underground hubs, so it's quite convenient.

Vienna: Wombats (The Lounge) - This is a super clean hostel with large common areas and a bar in the basement. The location is pretty central, right down the street from a major train hub. Because it's so big/clean, I think there is less of a hostel community sense. Wombats run three hostels in Vienna and I think this one was the second most popular. Overall, I liked it.

By the way, book hostels well in advance if you want a spot at the best ones.

Hey r/Travel, what are hostels really like? and whats your best/worst hostel experience? by GoodGuyGregsCousinin travel

The best hostels do everything they can to get you exploring their city, imho.

[–]Dundun 0 points1 point ago

Depends on what you like.

Both cities have a lot to offer. Prague is more picturesque and has a great culture. A little more 'gritty', but I kind of prefer those places. Vienna feels more metropolitan, more diverse, has plenty of historic sites, and a seemingly vibrant late night scene.

Prague is probably at least 10-15% cheaper if memory serves me right. Also has some really great hostels.

Arriving in Rome in about an hour. Can anyone host me? by arohnin travel

I'm guessing it was(due to the kindle) because it sounded like he was trying to pick up young men using crowdsurfing. Given his distrust of people over 32 (? why not 30 or 35), most likely the opposite is true.

The TED Talk on Inequality was just released by evlukein videos

[–]Dundun 0 points1 point ago

And it's the rich who are investing in the innovators and giving them time to grow their business from their garage to the biggest company in the world.

The middle class is naturally risk averse, if we relied on them for investment then we would see a lot more bets on existing companies and less on startups.

The TED Talk on Inequality was just released by evlukein videos

[–]Dundun 0 points1 point ago

I read the transcript of the talk two days ago and immediately came to the conclusion that the talk was poorly supported by facts-- appealing to the emotions of the audience instead of to reason. So, you are wrong.

Other people did as well but they were downvoted and drowned out by the pitchfork mob and their cries of: CONSPIRACY! CENSORSHIP!!

The speaker got what he wanted, but did it the wrong way. To me, this make TED's initial decision all the more correct.

Foxworth plans to retire and attend business school by aviewoflifein ravens

Gotta respect Foxworth listening to his body and moving beyond football. He has a really bright future ahead of him.

I'm proud that he's been a part of the Ravens organization and our city.

Too Hot for TED: Income Inequality — TED’s organizers recently decided one idea was too controversial to spread: the notion that widening income inequality is a bad thing for America, and that as a result, the rich should pay more in taxes by CroydonCin TrueReddit

[–]Dundun 0 points1 point ago

It's not the viewpoint, it's how he presents it. The TED guy says exactly that.

This headline is searching for a controversy when there isn't much of one.

[–]Dundun 1 point2 points ago

Not mentioning party names for a start. Ideas should be bigger than a specific nation, even if the appeal is for one particular nation.

Mentioning party names and referencing things that some may find offensive (i.e. aligning job creators with "The Creator" is not based in fact and probably offensive to a percentage of the listening audience-- even if they agree with the main points of his idea) is the quickest way to alienate a part of the audience and gain popularity from another part.

For example: the title of this post and title of the reference articles would not have gained much attention if they were more accurate. Making the situation seem more extreme and politically motivated gained it an audience (college students). There are probably 200 better talks on more actionable topics that don't get shown on reddit but this one will be known to all the people that don't look deeply at a topic.

[–]Dundun 0 points1 point ago

Aligning with one "party" is the definition of partisan.

There are ways to separate ideas from politics. This guy didn't do that.

This speech went out of it's way to appeal to the specific audience of the talk.

There are various types of TED. There is the main TED which features an array of world-class speakers and entertainers. Going to see these speakers separately would cost well over $7500 and would be require much more travelling. I believe that one is in Southern California.

There is also a yearly global TED which also features world class speakers and is probably expensive too. Have to remember, demand is crazy for these things. If TED doesn't charge $7500 and make it invite-only, scalpers are going to eat up tickets and burn the people that really want to attend.

Ted-X and Ted-U are independently organized sessions that are inspired by the main ideas of TED but don't necessarily have much to do with it. Most of these talks will never make it to the website- especially if they are deemed too political, which is why this headline is sensational bullshit.

You don't need to know anything about the NFL or American football players to like this story.

It's just a feel-good story of an athlete doing a kind deed to a teenage girl.

My first guess would be that this news is also on local papers but that the daily news does a better job of aggregating these types of stories and pushing it to social media outlets (like reddit).

Creeper rule:

Age/2 + 7 (18.5 for a 23 year old)

So, 18 is right on the line of socially acceptable for a legitimate relationship. In that sense, I don't think it would be very creepy at all especially considering they weren't total strangers to each other.
