"God damn you old woman!" - "He already has Ed Harley...he already has".

Such an awesome movie.

The Right Stuff is , in my opinion, a great film that's almost never mentioned on r/Movies. Anyone else have examples of movies that think r/Movies seems to ignore? by HarryBridgesin movies

Excalibur (1981) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082348/

John Boorman in general isn't discussed much, and he's made some really cool films. Excalibur, Deliverance, & Hell n the Pacific are some of my favorite movies.

So tell me, why did "John Carter" flop that hard? by vgasmoin movies

[–]Drexx 14 points15 points ago

I really enjoyed it, good action/adventure flick imo. A little too much humor for my tastes, but that's ok. I secretly hope there's some directors cut that will eventually surface though, because I think there's a great movie in there somewhere.

John Carter is a great example of how I think CGI should be used. Massive battles with crazy aliens/monsters/flying machines. It's all there, and done well. There's a certain scene where Carter is literally slicing through hordes of aliens, and they eventually pile up into one big nasty mess. Reminded me of a Frazetta painting.

What did John Carpenter think of Rob Zombie's Halloween remake? by EdguyFanin horror

[–]Drexx 1 point2 points ago

I only know of 2 cuts, the theatrical and the DC that arrived on dvd. Lots of differences between the two. Maybe there was a workprint that leaked?

‘Beetlejuice 2′ Is A Straight Sequel, Other Characters Possibly Returning by Swiss_Cheese9797in horror

While it sounds like a fun idea, I really hope it doesn't end up tarnishing the original. A part of me just wants them to leave it alone, Burton's directing isn't exactly up to par with his earlier work imo. Hope it's good though.

Medieval Horror Film by jjones5199in movies

The Blood on Satan's Claw: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066849/

Don't let the name fool you, this is actually a great little folk-horror type film. It's set more in Puritanical times (17th Century), so technically it's not a Medieval flick. Sometimes it's titled as "Satan's Skin".

Do you want to see the Dark Knight Rises look its absolute best? Check this list for a theater near you that screens 1570 (15perf 70mm film) Nolan shot largely on 70mm, and I guarantee watching it projected in true 70mm will be more immersive than any 3D crap. by Mjrdouchingtonin movies

[–]Drexx 2 points3 points ago

Thanks for the link, I had no idea it was shot in 70mm so I'll definitely see it in one of these theaters. Closest one to me is a hour and a half drive, worth it for TDKR.

How can Marvel top The Avengers? by jadedinosaurin movies

[–]Drexx 5 points6 points ago

By somehow pulling off 'Secret Wars". Unfortunately different studios own the rights to different Marvel characters, so this will never happen. ;(

Great movie, I haven't even thought of it in years, gotta rewatch. ;p Doesn't he say in the film that if you bought cocaine in the 80s, there was an 80% chance that it was from him? I can't remember, but there was something like that said. Crazy stuff.

Let the Right One In vs Let me In: Why did Hollywood have to spoil such an amazing movie ? How did this movie get 90%+ on RT given how shitty a remake it is ? Saw the 2 movies recently; then watched this video review comparing them on Youtube: by Krystiein movies

[–]Drexx 1 point2 points ago

I don't think the remake is shitty at all, considering how bad it could have been I think they did a good job. I enjoyed both versions. That being said, the original is obviously the better film imo anyway.

"Crumb" is actually a far superior documentary. I love how it really gets into how bizarre his family is, and it's just overall very well done.
