Paranoid android [Impact][Composition][Color Balance] by DrKenshinin photocritique

Yup, used PS, I tried lightroom before because people suggested it but I still can't get around it easily and PS seemed easier since I've used it before for simple things so it's my primary post processing software. Thanks for the link I'll read about adjustment layers and maybe also google some tuts. Thanks a ton, this is very helpful advice. :3

Thanks for the comment. Actually I agree, when I finished the color I realized the skin looked a bit off but left it there for the overall effect but I wish I had known how to solve it. I'll try your advice and hopefully I'll get better results in the future. Thanks again. :)

I can only visit ONE city in Italy (two is okay if they are close to one another). Which one should it be? by chenanin italy

[–]DrKenshin 2 points3 points ago

I'd say Florence+Venice. But understanding your post, both those cities are small and touristic in a... historical, museum, statues, etc kind of way. Night life is... lacking. So my best advice would be go to Milan and Venice, they're close to each other by train, cheap train, and you get both things. One really nice old amazingly beautiful historic city plus the most modern and cosmopolitan italian city with the best nightlife. Enjoy your trip. Peace.

Untethered 5.1.1 jailbreak is just days away! by ScribeOnein iphone

[–]DrKenshin 2 points3 points ago

Maybe not the right place to ask... but, I have to use a gevey sim to unlock my 4.3.1 iphone4 when i moved abroad, found out it was locked even if they told me it wasn't. I was on the iOS5 beta back home and that's why it downgraded me to 4.3 so I couldn't unlock it any other way. Gevey sim won't unlock iOS5 tho. Is there any way not (haven't checked in months) or will this new jailbreak maybe will also help in the unlocking of iOS5 with the newer basebands or w/e, I'm not so knowledgeable on the specifics.

Thanks a lot in advance for any info.

Deus Ex : Human Revolution [Impact][Composition][Color Balance] by DrKenshinin photocritique

[–]DrKenshin[S] 0 points1 point ago

Couple days ago I posted another pic of this same shoot, blue tones and I went for the Deus Ex cholor scheme. It had several issues and I learned a lot from it. Hopefully I can get also some good critique for this one.

This time I went for the newer Deus Ex : Human Revolution color scheme, golden... brownish, I don't know how to call it. Like that new paint color on Audi cars haha. Anyway, This picture also I gave it a squared frame and this time i tried to use less saturation and contrast but still made it look a bit... un real. Please let me know what you think, what works and doesn't work for you, any comment helps. Thanks in advance. :)

I see your point. It loses all the truthfulness of the image by altering the colors so drastically, I guess what I meant was ever since I took this hobby of photography not so long ago I realized people do the weirdest faces when they know you're taking a pic of them. Yet when I snap it without them noticing, even if they know I'm taking pics of buildings or of people on the street, then i snap one here and there of friends or whichever company I have, then their facial expressions to me seem more real, I can see their mood and I dont know, seems less... forced.

I agree maybe it's a bit over done... too blue. This was my first time trying such style and I guess now I both like it but think I could've improved the coloring a lot. Also I've been thinking about buying at least a monopod to do long exposures as well, hopefully I'll experiment with that next. :p

Thanks a lot for the comment, the advice and for checking out my flickr, I really appreciate it. :)

It's actually an overlay of 3 layers of the same picture, the background one is with a color balance where i put the blue 3/4 of the way up, -35 brightness and 100 contrast. Then second layer is -18 brightness and the third one is 3 brightness and 11 more contrast and desaturated. Then I merged them together... It's not really anything that... special, I guess it just happened while fooling around. I wanted something blue-ish and with dark blacks, was thinking about the old Deus Ex videogame. Something futuristic and urban, dark and blue like I said but with bright lights and faces. Thanks for ur comment, hope this helped. :)

I was going for some Deus Ex kind of color, a bit futuristic with the blue and dark blacks with bright face and lights of the cars in a very urban setting. Deus Ex the videogame I mean. About the bokeh, I dont know if it distracts much, I'm trying to see it from a different perspective, but at a larger apperture the bokeh would be blurrier no? (Kind of new to photography here)

And thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. I'm trying to go out and shoot as much as I can, I specially like taking portraits of people when they're not posing for me to catch some truthful expressions but still all the technicalities are a bit hard for me sometimes so I like posting here to get opinions and improve a bit every time. Again, thanks and also for the comment. :)

Hehe, newbie here too. Thanks for the comment, I love pigeons also, maybe it's because of the Animaniacs cartoon. :p I find that a lot of people don't like them tho, at least in the city I live in now... these are the first pigeons I see that ain't scared of people, which is really freaky sometimes. Also, random thing, I've never seen pigeons sleep until this year... like, on the grass. At first I thought it was a bunch of dead birds, I didn't know they slept laying down on their sides. I guess back home they always slept on top of buildings or whatever. Weird. :p

ITAP of a venomous frog by DrKenshinin itookapicture

[–]DrKenshin[S] 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, I only realized about the un-focused eye of the frog until a second look back home. The picture was taken on a weekend trip in an aquarium, the frog was TINY and there were a lot of people around me not really giving me much time. I tried to get really close almost to the point to put the lens up to the glass between me and the frog and foused manually (something which I'm new to, and proved to be hard since once i try to focus the camera goes into a zoom and I have to move the sector to see where the focus shifts too, I saw the body and adjusted but didn't see the face until after). It could've been a better picture for sure, but unfortunately it's the best I could get. Even then I really like it with its flaws and all, but I agree it's not perfect at all. :(

It's also my first attempt at a macro shot, macro somewhat cause I don't have any special equipment. The camera has some good options, I think, I've never had a DSLR or any pro or semi-pro camera and this was my move into something with interchangeable lenses (tho then I realized how expensive they are) from a regular point and shoot or just taking photos with the phone, so I guess for me it's been a good learning experience without feeling overwhelmed by menu's and settings.

Thanks for the comment.
