Formula One is quite determined to be as unpredictable as possible. by LouWatersin formula1

Indeed! Don't ask me about the drive to Paris the next day... There's 500 Euro I won't get back.

You're damn right I did! She's an industrial designer, and has been involved with a local super car project, so has a genuine interest in what goes on behind the scenes. Then there's the racing too...

Yep! We wanted to do a trip around Europe but had to be in Paris for our anniversary on the 26th (took the honeymoon a year after our wedding, we bought a house straight away instead of spending all that cash on a holiday). We wanted to go to a GP while we were in Europe, so were looking at either Magny-Cours or Monaco. The French GP was just a little too far out time wise so we settled on Monaco!

She loved it, and booked our tickets to Melbourne this year without even consulting me!

Are rolls of quarters packaged by the mint? by SpartanAestheticin answers

[–]DrDodgy 0 points1 point ago

I don't know about the US, but here in NZ you can get rolls of coins from any regular bank. They receive freshly minted coins in rolls from our Reserve Bank, who commission them from the mint. Customers of the bank (shops/people - doesn't matter who) can get the rolls from the bank by request.

2008 started wet but dried out. Hamilton won despite having an early puncture. Kubica finished 2nd, Massa 3rd.

Also, I was there on my honeymoon.

:D

Pastor gives Frank the thumbs up, pure joy & happiness on Franks face. by Cubejamin formula1

[–]DrDodgy 25 points26 points ago

Yep, that must have been such an awesome moment for Pastor. Not only having just claimed his first F1 victory, but being on the top of the podium ahead of two of the most highly respected current drivers who both happen to be former world champions. A lot of the soul has been missing from F1 over the past few years, actions like that reinforce what an awesome series it is.

Oh Paul, you so silly. by yeahshotbroin newzealand

One of the highlights of my recent trip to Melbourne was watching Paul Henry on breakfast TV again.

Frank Williams is the reason I'm a Formula 1 nut.
The racing always entertained me as a kid, but it was the documentary work that was so often done with Williams that really made me love it. His openness and enthusiasm to engage with fans is something that the other teams could learn from.

Hamilton Stripped of Pole Position by am5437435in formula1

[–]DrDodgy 0 points1 point ago

Yep, you can do that. Unfortunately, that sets a benchmark time and allows the other teams to work towards beating it - perhaps over more than one run. Doing the last dash puts the other teams in a position where they've only got the one lap to make or break it.

There isn't enough time for this to be done in this circumstance. Once the timer for the session finishes, the cars are deemed to be in parc ferme even if they're on the track still, this means no refueling or other intervention by the team.
