My girlfriend's fat pug is going blind, and keeps hitting his head on his kennel. We decided he needed some protection. by Litheon1in aww

Yeah, no... He's technically very overweight.

I was out buying some gift cards at various restaurants for Christmas gifts for my grandparents and a few other family members. While at one of the restauarants, after buying a gift card, I gave the cashier about $40 and asked her to please pay the bill of the next family/couple to check out. And if there was any leftover, to apply it to the next family or couple. I left without seeing who got it, but it felt good nonetheless.

Various times I have given large tips to our waiter for dinner... Recently I gave our waiter a tip equal to our entire bill. Again, didn't get to see his reaction, but still felt good.

3 years ago he shattered his leg jumping off a counter. Bone cancer was to blame. We paid $3,900 to amputate the leg hoping for a "10% survival rate beyond a year." Every day we help him scratch his ear. by gr33nlant3rnin pics

Again, more expensive than at our hospital, but prices differ, I understand. But thanks for ignoring the remainder of my comments to point out that fact.

Thanks for the kind words, but what do you think a human urinalysis runs? A urinalysis in our hospital runs $40... A human UA runs over $100 on average. And how about a leg amputation? Just because insurance might kick in and make it SEEM cheaper, a human leg amputation would run you into the TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars. Even though $2500 dollars for a cat rear limb amputation is higher than we would charge, we still do stuff on par with human medicine but at pennies on the dollar in comparison. It just hurts to have the mentality out there that we "rape" people with our prices. I went to school as long as a human doctor but I won't make remotely close to anything they do by the time I retire or stop working. All I want to do is help the animals... If only people knew.

Thanks Taco Bell for the PSVita and 3 games! First time ever eating there also! by swatteredin gaming

I won one of them, too! It's been fun playing it and trying it out, but I haven't played it much over the past couple of weeks. Thinking of selling mine, only because I enjoy gaming on the big screen too much and already have an iPad. I dunno, we'll see.

Yep, white charcoal on black textured paper. It's become my favorite way to draw portraits.

Haha, I knew that would get people sometimes. Luckily I don't have the desire to eat my patients: ).

Let's not open this can of worms. Does the grocery store take payment? Electric company? Gas company? We have to pay the bills, too, so it's just as hard for us to take payments as anyone else. And though you might be honest and come back to pay your bill, many, MANY people don't... they got their free service and we never see them again.

TIL that once a patient becomes symptomatic with rabies, treatment is almost never effective and mortality is over 99% by getintheVandellin todayilearned

[–]DoggieDoc83 3 points4 points ago

I am a veterinarian and so I deal with these situations often. The 10 day quarantine has to do with the fact that not every animal with rabies is capable of passing it along. The virus has to have made it to the salivary glands to be passed to something/someone bitten. We also know that if rabies is far enough along to be transmissible (in the salivary glands) then an animal will either be showing signs of rabies or be dead within 10 days. As a result the 10 day quarantine exists. If the animal is not dead or showing signs of rabies after 10 days, then it is not possible to have passed it along even if it is infected with rabies, so the bite victim can be considered safe (though prophylactic shots have likely already been started). At this point the animal, if a dog or cat, is either vaccinated or has to undergo a yet longer quarantine depending on its current vaccine statues. Dogs that were vacci ated before but just out of date can often be updated on vaccines and go on their merry way. Dogs never vaccinated before often times have to undergo quarantine of up to 6 months.

Yeah, it cost me $112 to do my whole setup. Do you need two separate areas, or just the length of two strips? If you just need the length you can buy just extra strips for like $10 for 2, I think.... the $45 is for 2 strips, a control box/power supply, and a remote. If you don't need two separate sets of those you should be able to save money.

Link http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002CQ87MI/ref=oh_o04_s01_i00_details Yeah, I think they would work really well for that. As a matter of fact there is a video in the amazon description showing them used for that exact purpose.

It was called Dark Ash... The brand was Grand Distinctions, which is a one they carry at Menard's.

What do you mean? My games are on the media shelf that you can see in the album pictures. The room is a bit too small to play football in, though.
