What "amazing fact" or colloquialism do you know is actually wrong, and you're sick of correcting people about it? by TestZeroin AskReddit

Plain soda water is better since it doesn't leave a sticky residue around.

Climbing to the summit of an active volcano and staring way down to the lava bursting below. The smell was something else.

I did that jump the day before that happened, and met that girl while rafting the Zambezi earlier that day, telling their travel group how awesome the bungee was... It was a huge shock to hear about it that evening and almost as big of a shock to have my friend from the US forward the BBC news story to me while I was in Cape Town.

You're not paying for the material so much as the precision engineering/manufacturing behind it.

Brits of Reddit. You have one day to assimilate me (an American) into British culture. What would you explain? by 4rchin AskReddit

[–]Dinkerdoo 0 points1 point ago

Can confirm about stores closing at 5 SHARP on Sundays. I lived in the UK for 3 months last year and wanted to pick up a bottle of wine for a dinner party. Got to Tesco at 5:00 on the dot and there were still plenty of people queued up to pay. The woman standing in the doorway wouldn't let me through, even though I said I just wanted to rush in and out to pick up a simple bottle of booze.

The answer I always come back to is to skydive over a major city with a dynamite vest. I would detonate it ~500 feet up and let my red mist rain down upon puzzled onlookers during rush hour.

Ladies and gentlemen, the 2013 Dodge Viper SRT!!! by Duuduubrainin cars

I never cared for the previous Vipers' stylings, but I must admit this one is sexy and imposing. Except for those ugly plastic fake air vents and that godawaful plastic/carbon fiber grille. Why do American cars keep piling on useless plastic bits in the worst places?

I've seen pictures of the wet season and would love to make it back there one day at that time of year.

I did the 4 day land cruiser trip over from Chile, and the scenery was some of the most desolate alien stuff I've had the privilege to appreciate. Very Spaceman Spiff vibe to it. Coupled with the extreme altitude, it was one deliriously awesome acid trip.

Condolences on your Ecuadorian robbing experience. Somebody actually crawled under my seat on the bus and slashed my bag while I was dozing.

One of many forced perspective photos I took on my trip through there. This place should be on everyone's bucket list who loves surreal geological phenomena.

Edit: Back from work, so here are some of the good ones plus a few others I just liked. Unfortunately my memory card and USB hard drive were stolen on a bus in Ecuador, so facebook/picasa resolution is all I have.

Cement consists of processed stone, so I'd call it real stone since it hasn't undergone any chemical changes, but that's all a semantics issue I don't feel like arguing any more.

Yeah, it is nice having the natural grain texture, and current machining practices will be around for a long time for those aesthetic reasons. From an engineering standpoint though, MDF is wood with very constant density and consistent structural characteristics, so applications for such things as, say, speaker building are exciting.

It's an engineered wood product like Velveeta is a processed cheese product. You originally said "real wood" which I believe MDF falls under, and changed the wording to "natural" just now.

"MDF type material. Not real wood."

I don't like being pedantic, but your statement implies a wall between the two where there is none.
