No, there will always be issues with any product or service, and even if it's a minor, unforeseen issue, it may still prevent you from using/enjoying the product the way you intended to.

That's why having a good customer support is very important: Because when something invariably goes wrong, you have a good resource to turn to. That's one of the reasons I shell out the money for Macs and high-end Thinkpads - because their customer service is outstanding.

They are known not to hate Apple products and actually write pretty fair and neutral reviews, so the same people that hate on Apple because it's cool also like to hate on The Verge because they like Apple stuff.

I generally do a fresh install of Windows on any Windows machine I ever buy, so the crapware isn't what I hate about Acers. What I hate about them is that they have terrible displays, terrible keyboards, terrible trackpads, terrible cooling, they constantly break and their customer service is ridiculously bad.

Personally though, unless PC laptop manufacturers really clean up their act, or Apple royally fucks up, I won't buy a non-Mac Laptop ever again... I've had Dells, Thinkpad T-Series, and a bunch of others, and now I've had an Air for a year and a half, and I've never been nearly as happy with a computer as I am with this one.

But that's always the same type of calculation: The one that ignores everything that makes a Laptop a good Laptop. If all you want from a Laptop is a powerful CPU and GPU and lots of RAM, sure, you can get a comparable PC Laptop for less money. If you want a thin, light, durable Laptop, with a fantastic screen, a great keyboard and a battery that'll easily last you 7 hours, everything in the PC world is significantly more expensive than the comparable Mac. If on top of that, you want a fantastic Multitouch trackpad, there is quite simply no alternative. None. There is no PC Laptop with a useable trackpad, least of all one with a great trackpad.

What? No, it's not the same principle you're describing at all. Whatever you do, Lion will save the file for you indefinitely unless you actively discard it. For example, every time I open TextEdit (the Mac equivalent of Notepad), three notes I've started two weeks ago immediately pop up, with the cursor right where it was when I last quit the App. I haven't saved any one of those notes anywhere on my Drive, Lion just keeps (each with versioned histories) them until I actively discard them. When I open Pages, the Document I was last working on pops up with the curser in the exact spot I left it. When I open Preview, OSX's all-purpose document viewer, every Document I was viewing during the last session comes back up, zoomed and scrolled to the exact spot I last had it. You get the idea - Lion doesn't just do that one auto-save thing some MS Apps do, it's an OS-API that any program can use to constantly back up your stuff and always bring you back to the exact spot you were when you reopen an App, whether it crashed, you closed the App, you restarted your machine or your entire computer crashed.

They didn't get rid of it in 8, this is stuff Windows never had.

It's much more than that. It automatically saves whatever you do and if you quit the App (or it crashes) and you reopen it, you are right back where you left it, with any documents you had popping back up exactly the way you left them, even the ones you haven't saved even once. It also does local incremental backups of any changes you make to a Document, so even if you royally fuck something up, you can just go back to an older version and copy the relevant stuff from there or go back to that one altogether.

All in all, it's pretty great, and it's actually become something I sorely miss on my Windows machine now.

When it first started off, I had rather high hopes that it really was just Bad Wings by The Glitch Mob, because that's fucking awesome. Boy was I ever wrong :(

I totally agree - Crysis 2 was a very good game, very fun to play, and while the story was very linear, it basically consisted of dozens of huge arenas which had to be traversed from one side to the other, each with probably at least a dozen very different ways to go at it. All that makes for some fantastic gameplay.

Crysis 1 was entirely different beast, and even still a much better game, the way the AI behaved and just how fucking huge and entirely destructible the environment was, was revolutionary. People, especially nerds, love to hate on the popular kid, so everybody loves hating on Crysis. Because of its mind-blowing looks people assumed that gameplay was shit, and sadly that's what became the common opinion with people who haven't played it.
