Reminds one of this scene from Dr. Zhivago.

Edit: note the large muff.

It's funny you should put those two together. I was in Old Cabell a few months ago at an orchestra concert and bumped into Mr. Fox (founder of Bodos). I asked him if the same artist had done his Corner restaurant. He laughed and said: "No, my daughter painted the restaurant".

I'm afraid you've got this a little backwards. The key is: If the poor people control their reproduction, they will have less children; that means they will have more free time and more money... in other words "there won't be anymore poor people". Then, who's going to buy the cheap consumer products and the homemaking supplies? Who's going to mop the floors and build the roads and serve the food?

...but at the end of the day, the structure of society is driven by women, which is exactly what we see in primates by DUG1138in Anthropology

Very nice. Though, I'd replace the beryl wood on the coffee table with a T-Rex skull.

Edit: A juvenile T-Rex.

Fair enough. Though, unless that place is a one-room deal, they might have made do with an iPad on a counter-top stand (less gaudy).

With a big TV in the dining room: tacky, bourgeois.

All that view; those windows and they'd rather watch television.

I read "A Martian Odyssey" when I was 9. It was the story that got me started on Science Fiction.

Well, figuring that door to be a little taller than an average human, I guess you could put a straight ladder on rollers connected to the fourth shelf down... but you'd be practically standing on tippy-toes to reach that top shelf. Scary.

Right, but it's going to have to be an adjustable ladder. What a pain! Also, 7 years of bad luck if anyone walks in under it while it's in front of the door!
