TROPHY CASE

"life must always be protected", a senior Vatican cleric has defended the Catholic Church's decision to excommunicate the mother and doctors of a nine-year-old rape victim who had a life-saving abortion in Brazil by LaSteffin news

You might look at Methodists, there's still contention about acceptance of homosexuality, especially in clergy, however their policy statement last year embraced responsible use of abortion, contraception, and a belief in science and evolution. If I could find the document I'd link it for you.

Also, the smaller and newer the Protestant group, the more likely they are to embrace these things.

Tax the fuck out of dirty tech and reduce the clean tech rate to nearly zero, you end up with clean tech much sooner.

Anyone who says streamlining is unnecessary in space is ignoring the fact that these ships are traveling at a reasonable proportion of C, which means the perceived density of space will be much higher, thus requiring streamlining.

Also, the reason for the rams & scoops on a spaceship is to collect hydrogen and other gases.

[–]ChaosMotor 2 points3 points ago

I disagree. While the objective density of space may be very low in a still frame, when your speed is a reasonable proportion of C, the relative density or perceived density of space would be much, much higher.

Clearly you're not an Engineer. The Right Hand Rule establishes a galactic (but not universal) "up".

Your comments on ship to ship combat are apt.

It was a rhetorical question. There are many Christian sects that respect abortion, contraception, and evolution.

We could reduce our prison expenses by 75% if we stopped jailing non-violent drug offenders, and even further if we would allow prisoners to work while requiring their employers to pay fair wages, and charge reasonable expenses to the prisoner during their stay.

There isn't another Christian sect that doesn't prohibit contraception and reasonable uses of abortion? At this point, I really see no redeeming features in the Catholic church.

Across Italy police are cracking down on Ferrari and Lamborghini drivers, but not because they are driving too fast. Italy, like so much of southern Europe, is drowning in debt, so police are pursuing drivers to make sure they are declaring and therefore paying taxes. by skreendreamz1in worldnews

Fuck, I hate working. Let's get a big group of people with guns and uniforms, and we can just take what we want! What are they going to do about it? Ha! Government!

Yet Catholicism does not support the use of birth control, this was rape, and the mothers' health was in jeopardy.

Why are you Catholic? That's like saying "I'm in the KKK, but I don't really have a problem with blacks..."

Should drug offenders be punished? Absolutely, but let's put things in perspective. Apparently, buying some dope for your personal use is 5 – 15 years worse than cold blooded murder. Let’s up the ante for murder and rape.

Why is your focus to increase the penalties for violent crime, instead of to decrease penalties for non-violent crime?

Wouldn't prisons have 75% more capacity to isolate violent offenders if we didn't prosecute non-violent drug "crime"?

Make it a miserable experience so they will even conform so they won’t be sent back.

This is possibly the most ignorant thing I've ever read. Societies that treat prisoners as humans receive humans back. Societies that treat prisoners as monsters receive monsters back.

I have met many non-retarded persons whose arguments against abortion focus entirely on the potential-person, with absolute disregard to the point of malice towards the woman having to bear the burden of an unwanted pregnancy.

I cannot formulate an anti-abortion argument that demonstrates any respect for the well-being of the mother.

Oh yes, ending a pregnancy that hasn't even come to term, for a fetus that only might become a baby, being borne by a 9 year old (which creates a MASSIVE likelihood of pregnancy-ending complications), is far more important than ruining the life of a girl who already exists and is alive, now.

That's how it is with anti-abortionists, they have to focus on the fetus and completely ignore the burden and suffering of the woman or else they have no leg to stand on.
