I don't know about you guys, but this is one of my favorite Doctor Who quotes by tardis3134in doctorwho

[–]CalamityOne 10 points11 points ago

"You know, the very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don't alter their views to fit the facts. They alter the facts to fit their views. Which can be uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering." -4th Doctor, Tom Baker

The best line in all of Doctor Who. Just FYI.

Is that third picture a man fucking a horse? If so, shouldn't this be NSFW? Just sayin'...

By studying 30mins a day for 600days, I mastered the Japanese writing system by nihon_trollin GetMotivated

Hmm... upon hearing this, I did some reading. It seems most peoples problem with it is it is 'confusing and expensive' and that it doesn't work alone. Most of the people who recommend it, say to use it in conjunction with other things (preferably audio courses.) Thank you for giving me the heads up!

Right now I am using Rosetta Stone, with its audio companion. I've used it to learn the basics for a couple other languages. It's immensely helpful, because instead of translating things, it shows you what they mean. So when I do the audio support, I don't think of the words, I can see the pictures Rosetta Stone uses in my head. I absolutely love it. It is expensive, but my girlfriend got it for free for working for the Army. I also got Pimsleur. I have not used it yet, but I've heard it is also one of the better courses. It appears to be all audio however.

This is very meaningful to me right now. As I have just embarked on a journey to learn to speak a foreign language by the time I'm 30 (4 years). I decided to start doing just this, spend a little time everyday devoted to learning Mandarin.

To hear how it worked for you, on the opposite end of the goal. It gives me hope.

Any suggestions that helped get you through those tough times? I am anticipating them...

She's beautiful but that smile looks forced. Staged for the camera.

Those of you who smoke/smoked because of stress, I have a few questions. by TheCapKoiin stopsmoking

[–]CalamityOne 2 points3 points ago

-Exercise. Best stress relief ever. It's a pain to actually start, but once its over you feel great.

-I still over eat, but that's probably because I smoke weed too. High metabolism so I don't gain weight (Sorry I can't help you here.)

-I tried nicotine patches in the past, and it help me quit. This final time, I was able to quit cold turkey (I don't know why, cigarettes just started tasting gross.) However, the patch did work, and I got a buzz for the first 3minutes with it on, then barely noticed.

What has changed so drastically in America from the Space Race and space exploration being a huge deal to our country, to the decommissioning of the space shuttles? by Throwaway_Ain politics

[–]CalamityOne 2 points3 points ago

Five words. End of the Cold War.

No more enemies with the potential of space faring to compete with. The sole reason the space program excelled to where it did. Enemies of the state.

Question about marriage in the US. by tkaiusfin AskReddit

[–]CalamityOne 2 points3 points ago

This is exactly what a reasonable person would believe, in fact, it'd be ideal for most people I know in domestic partnerships. Gay or not. The issue is, the religious persons in this country are very vocal.

Weirdest, most oddest, cute animals. I apologize for the poorly constructed English, but it's no more oddly constructed than a platypus.

On the hypothetical that heaven/hell exist, I would prefer hell. Think of all the people that would be there. Hell would be a huge party with Jimi Hendrix rockin' it at the front of house. There'd be tons of dope, and probably sex without the prospect of marriage. It sounds like a great time.

I wonder if it's an awesome coincidence, or the author of your math book is a TPB fan.
