I realized the extent of my addiction about a year ago. I was at an amusement park with a few friends, and since I didn't want to lug a purse around I left it in the car. I brought a few essentials with me (phone, cash) but totally forgot about my chapstick. An hour or so into it I realized I did not have my trusty tube and asked the girl I was with if she had some, but she did not. I went to the closest souvenir shop but they didn't have any either. I then went ACROSS the park by myself to check the other store. They, also, did not sell any chapstick or anything of a sort. I was getting desperate. The car was a half hour walk away and I would not be able to get back in if I left. Could I ask people if they had chapstick I could use? I thought that would be extremely weird. About 20 minutes later, I decided I could not live for another minute without chapstick so I actually started asking people. The first 10 people I asked either gave me extremely disgusted looks or said they didn't have any. Finally, one lady said I could use some of hers if I scraped some off the top with the cap. Score! However, I knew that in less then an hour I would need some more. So I actually scraped some off the top and transferred it to the bottle cap from my water bottle and put it in my pocket. Because it was inside the cap, it didn't come off on my pants and the day was saved.
