Straight, Able-bodied, White CiS Man

Don't ask me why cis gets two letters. I think it must be because SRS is bad at acronyms.

Low-effort sexism (+ racist overtones) in WTF by BeelzebubsBarristerin ForABetterReddit

[–]BeelzebubsBarrister[S] 0 points1 point ago

The woman in the photo is a black woman working in what appears to be a fast-food restaurant. I think the whole WTF thread is freighted with issues of race and class, but yeah, the particular comment in my screenshot is not explicitly racist.

"I'm not a neo-nazi, but"--Holocaust denier speaks up in r/history, further down is revealed to be white supremacist. by InfinitelyThirstingin SubredditDrama

[–]BeelzebubsBarrister 22 points23 points ago

...I believe posting in r/WhiteRights doesn't necessarily makes you a racist. ... It was my assumption that is what that sub was about - discussion racial equality through laws, instances where we have double standards, etc. That's what /r/mensrights is about.

Are you from Mars or something?

it is still malicious to gain access purposely to leak that sort of thing from a subreddit that is private so they can post private things.

I agree with that, which is why I've made no effort to gain access under an alt. It's duplicitous. However, I think there's a big difference between that, and SRSers who were/are there in good faith, but see the Archangelles doing something they disagree with or object to, and decide to leak it because they have no valid way to express their discontent within the Fempire.

It is a private sub, so they discuss some personal, private stuff that has no impact on SRS or Reddit...it's jut people talking about their lives and their problems, and comforting each other.

So we have never, ever (to the best of my knowledge) featured any leaks from SRSHome that focused on individual redditors' private lives/personal stories. There was one screenshot that contained an arguably-private story incidentally sandwiched in between some Archangelle stuff, and we took steps to anonymise that shot.

I'll say right now, if anyone posts something like "Leaked from SRSHome, <some random SRSer> is struggling with mental health issues!" or something absurd like that, I will absolutely remove that as off-topic harassment.

Hah.

I've seen modmail where he makes jokes diminishing transphobia.

sigh

The modmail in question was from the /r/SRS_is_banned thing, where we were responding to anyone who messaged to question why they were banned with ridiculous, nonsensical "justifications" for the bans. One person in particular sent a message that included an interrobang (which are awesome, btw) so I sent a reply that said something like:

Interrobangs are transphobic.

It was not a joke to "diminish" transphobia. It was a joke about the fact that SRS often decides that apparently random things are offensive for apparently random reasons. The joke is that interrobangs have nothing whatsoever to do with transphobia.

For the record (because apparently I have to keep saying these things every 15 minutes or else SRS decides it doesn't count) I think transphobia is a very real and serious problem and I have spoken out against it, in this very subreddit as recently as this week. Trans* people suffer violence at a shockingly high rate and face a social stigma that is almost unparalleled in our culture.

Also, I'd like to point out that I've been at this for about 3 or 4 months now, to the tune of several thousand comments, and a nonsensical one-liner from a joke subreddit is the "worst" thing they've got on me.

Edit: Here is a screenshot of the modmail exchange in question. If any trans folks are hurt by this, I sincerely apologise.

Mother must be proud.

I'm sure your mother is incredibly proud that her little boy has discovered masturbation, and being a shithead on the internet in the same year.

Oh, I think that bit was there the first time I saw it. But you're right, there is an edit asterisk on the post.

My question is this: WHY IS COMMUNICATION BETWEEN SRS AND antiSRS SO FUCKING DIFFICULT?????

Because they've banned us from talking to them over there, and then they made a ban-bot to ban themselves for talking to us over here.

Where's Farrah's edit? I don't see it. Did they edit out their edit?

Yeah, I'm really unclear as to what Sophonax thinks the word "doxxing" means. Does she think it includes posting anything that somebody would rather you didn't post? Am I doxxing her right now by posting this comment? If I go and take a screenshot of something she said someplace else on reddit, and post that, is that "doxxing"? Can you please just give us a clear definition so we know when you'll be super outraged?

I think they're talking about ENTP (they linked to his post). I don't think he's in any position to laugh about stalking or harassment.

Even though we have reason to believe that people in your midst have doxxed many members of Reddit that disagree with your party line?

Let's be fair. Do we actually have reason to believe that? Other than Laurelai, who I'm sure we can all admit is something of a special case, I haven't seen any convincing evidence that SRSers were involved in doxxing. I'm fairly certain that most of the doxxing was the work of a very small number of trolls trying to fuck with both SRS and antiSRS. We had several doxxing attempts (against both SRS and aSRS members) from different 0-day throwaway accounts, but after I asked the admins to consider an IP ban we didn't see any further instances.

And there is no ethic/morally sound way to stop stupid people from reproducing. If you can find an ethical way to fix that problem, you might just win a Nobel Prize.

You can provide them with easy access to education about reproductive health and free or heavily-subsidized family planning methods. I'll take my Nobel Prize now.

You're coming dangerously close to a "it's just words, why don't you ignore it if it bothers you" argument, but I tend to agree. Being called a bigot on reddit is merely irritating; it doesn't impact my life in any meaningful way.

The point is that recognising both the positive and negative aspects of things is important, which I think you and I agree on (even if we differ about the extent to which certain things are "good" or "bad") but you're in here defending a group that stridently rejects your own maxim ('The bad does not erase the good') and regularly engages in character assassination against those they disagree with.

You haven't, other SRSers have (sometimes if they're feeling generous, they'll stick the word "apologist" on the end)

The point of banning is not to control internal discontent, at least I don't see how it could be.

Weren't you banned for stepping out of line?

Ok, well, I could argue that since you can find dozens of interesting, caring and insightful comments in most large threads, that reddit is overwhelmingly good. : P

We just have different opinions about this. Note, however, that I don't consider you to be a pedophile, a bigot, or otherwise a "shitlord" because you disagree with me.
