TROPHY CASE

I'd like to hear some UNBIASED opinions on Fasolo's 50m penalty from tonight. by all_my_ragein AFL

[–]BIllyBrooks 4 points5 points ago

For mine, I don't think he stepped off the line (but I could be wrong) he certainly gestured to the outside, but there is no problem with that. But anyway, play on wasn't called so ump really had no choice but to give the 50m.

But that didn't decide the game. 18 behinds decided this game, and the myriad of turnovers in the first half from the Geelong players. It was still a good game to watch, but not a highly skilled game.

am I an asshole? by ghostskwidin bjj

[–]BIllyBrooks 0 points1 point ago

I was thinking something similar - just tap, and then have a quick chat "Face punches aren't cool" or whatever. Maybe he doesn't know a better way, so show him and work with it.

I've been the spazzing white belt before, and had more experienced people tap to me and then explain that I shouldn't do what I did and why. I know I'm not an asshole, it was just because I did not know what I was doing was dangerous.

So I tried out the Ezekiel choke last night... by voodoochild87in bjj

[–]BIllyBrooks 1 point2 points ago

I don't have much luck getting a tap with a zeke, but use it as a great set up (because I don't know much). I typically go for americana and move into head/arm triangle if that gets stuffed, but occasionally I can't get them to give up the arm. So I go for the zeke choke and try to catch the arm when they defend. I don't think I've ever got a tap with the zeke, but I have had a little bit of luck using that transition. Obviously white belt level, so this might not work against better opponents, I wouldn't know.

Hey, this comment was posted 2 months ago. Do you think the labor party read it and thought "Fuck, what an idea! We tie it into school kids or some shit and see how that works."

Well played, getpixel, well played.

I don't think you have the numbers right. Let's say I lost 4 in a row, then won the fifth time. I'd win $7 after loosing (1+2+3+4) = $10. I'm down $3 already. Those numbers only work for a profit for the first 2 spins, break even if you win on the third spin, and then lose for all subsequent spins after that.

Do you mean the Martingale system? Doesn't work because you need basically a really massive amount of money to win a tiny amount of money each time, and casinos have table/house limit on bets to stop it from happening.

Unless you are talking about doubling your bet each time you win - which won't work either because you are more likely to loose than win.

Black Caviar wins 21st race; set to take on the world by andrewinmelbournein australia

[–]BIllyBrooks 2 points3 points ago

Both. It beat some absolutely brilliant horses earlier on, and beat them easily, so for the last dozen races or so it has been going against less than stellar competition. It will be tested again when it goes overseas, but will likely still start as a strong favorite.

IF THERE IS A MORE FRUSTRATING TEAM... by oshyarein AFL

[–]BIllyBrooks 5 points6 points ago

It's sad, but this is the result of a generation of Melbourne players that have been brought up without the expectation to win. Mining draft picks back fired by creating this vacuum of competitiveness, then finding out Jack Watts wasn't the savior they made him out to be (he'll likely become a star in 3-4 years at another club) and then loosing Scully really hurt.

It's going to be a long road out for Melbourne.

Sampling /r/atheism - Data and Observations of A Controversial Subreddit by ChemicalSerenityin atheism

[–]BIllyBrooks 1 point2 points ago

Well done, and good to see it was dealt with in depth and not just the pie chart (even though that's exactly where I started before bothering to read the rest).

Obviously some of the categorization will be subjective, but to me it looks pretty spot on. I guess I thought it would be about those percentages, but those opposed to r/atheism will always say the ones that make it to the front page of r/all are the worst ones. But really who cares what they think?

At this point in my life I don't know what I am. Atheist. Theist. Whatever. I'll just call myself a thinker.

Not that it matters at all, but this is good enough for me. As for your question - don't get worked up about it, move on.

Prayer Room at the MCG by elhindenburgin AFL

[–]BIllyBrooks 0 points1 point ago

How does it reserve seats? There won't be "Prayer Room Users Only" seating areas. Take Etihad and the MCG as examples, they already have the prayer rooms and no dedicated seating.

I'm 17, is our generation really as stupid as it's made out to be on the internet and in the media or are people like that the minority? by Karpachetain AskReddit

[–]BIllyBrooks 0 points1 point ago

The great thing about getting older is you get selective memory - so the stupid things you did as a 17 year old, and the stupid things you liked as a 17 year old get forgotten.

So I guess the real answer is your generation of 17 year olds are about as silly as the previous ones, and as silly as the next ones.

Can I Dispute this? by Ricardo29in AskReddit

[–]BIllyBrooks 1 point2 points ago

If you can get a local permit, you could dispute it. But as it is council regulations and not state law or anything like that, you'll have a hard time going to local court and getting it over turned.

So check with council if you have a local permit, otherwise you're out $64.

Has anyone enjoyed a successful, healthy relationship that started out as an affair that ended a marriage (or two marriages)? by stupidrockin AskReddit

[–]BIllyBrooks 0 points1 point ago

Not personally, but my uncle did. He was having an affair with a woman at his work place, and I guess it must have been going on for quite some time. The way his wife learned of the affair was when the other woman moved her clothes into the wife's closet and had the wife's clothes packed in a suitcase on the bed. I guess she got sick of waiting for him to get the divorce...

Anyway - that was 25 years ago. They've been married not long after that, had three kids and 2 grandkids. I guess you could say it worked out in the end. My grandmother still talks to the ex-wife on occasion, she was a really nice person (not that there is anything wrong with the new wife, mind).

Prayer Room at the MCG by elhindenburgin AFL

[–]BIllyBrooks 9 points10 points ago

I am a contributing member of r/atheism, so you can figure where I sit on certain issues around this topic. But honestly - a muslim prayer room is very simple and modest looking, you would not even know it was there. It's not like it would cost heaps to upkeep either. If it means 1 extra family thinks "Hey, they've done this for us so let's go to the footy today" then that is a massive win in my books. I can only see good things for footy coming from this move, and the costs associated would be small, the inconvenience for everyone else would be zero.
