It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong. by SRotDin subredditoftheday

[–]Addyct 1 point2 points ago

Honestly, I think this is the main problem (not you specifically, but what you said).

People who are new to Reddit or loking to diversify their frontpage are often sent here to "find interesting new subreddits to subscribe to". While this is a good place to do that, it's not the subreddit's stated goal. They don't know that, because they don't ever bother to read the sidebar or anything. They expect "NEW", this sub promises "INTERESTING"

You need to start adding the [CREATOR] flair to your posts (I've done it this time), or mention in the title that it's your art.

But some of them are from outside. Scott Sullivan is coming from Visa and (I think) Mark Randall is coming from Amazon. Regina Dugan has only been at Google for a month, so it's very possible that she was hired for this very position.

That's possible as well, but I would argue that hiring the former a former VP of consumer marketing for Google implies that their first choice would be to use Motorola, not sell it off.

EDIT: Also, I think that if it was always Google's plan to keep making hardware, I don't think it would have been necessary for Sanjay Jha to have been replaced.

This would be true if they were planning on continuing to sell hardware in the same fashion as they have. My (completely elementary and partially biased) hunch is that they want to continue hardware sales, but in a different direction or style.

I wouldn't expect Android on set-top boxes, but I wouldn't be surprised if we got some Google TV integration in their newest models.

That's the thing, though. I don't think it necessarily is, or at least not as much of a priority as you and others seem to think it is. Dennis Woodside was one of their brightest executives. Sending him there sends a clear message that they have immediate plans for the company. This being r/android, of course our main focus will be on how this will affect Android and the Nexus program, but the Web is as much "the future" to Google as Android is (even more so, if I'm honest), and having a hardware company opens up some interesting doors.

EDIT: I defy anyone to read this ensemble cast he's putting together and tell me that this is just about patents and that they will just be selling off the hardware departments.

If they had just bought the company for patents, they wouldn't have bumped Sanjay Jha and replaced him with "a long-time Googler". No, they have plans for Moto. As crazy as Google is with everything else, do you really think they would acquire the entire company and then just let that goldmine of potential go about it's everyday business?

why do people always post this stupid fucking picture for every little trend. Is your life so fucking terrible that one or two days of a few silly posts drives you this crazy? Are you that much of an inflexible asshole that you can't just not click on them? Are the fake quote pictures really that distracting from the other amazingly high-quality content we usually get around here like this or this?

The Tea Party is dead? Have you been watching the news? They've had a number of primary victories over "moderate republicans" in the last month alone. Just because they aren't holding as many abysmal rallies outside capital buildings as they used to doesn't mean they've died.

I'm sorry, but voting patterns and the emergence of the hyper-christian Tea Party would tend to imply that even if you personally don't meet people like that, they do still exist in large numbers.
