A couple of those actually made me laugh, though, so he's already less annoying.

Mostly the 'moments of clarity' seem to come gradually. Personally, I was friends with many 9/11 truthers, shared some of their beliefs (namely, that certain government officials had foreknowledge of it) and attended a handful of events back around '03. At the time, I thought that we, the lunatic fringe, might be able to put aside differences in our beliefs (hah!) and convince others that the people in power were basically murderous thugs. Many of the truthers' assertions seemed pretty far-fetched at the time (thermite, building 7, etc.) but rather than dispute the groups' accepted facts I tried to convince them to focus more on a narrative with wider appeal - of course, this narrative was my personal belief in the Bush administration's foreknowledge of 9/11. I had not seen or heard anything to validate this theory; there was only my strong hatred of Bush & co. My involvement with the truthers was short-lived: there seemed to be no room for self-criticism or consideration of opposing points of view. When I stopped attending the events, I hadn't yet read through all the thorough debunking of the movement, but its goals weren't lining up with mine. In the minds of the leaders, there seemed to be no possibility that our rhetoric was hurting the anti-Bush movement, something which was clear to me. Only years later did I read and digest the true science behind why it was all so wrong. I still have a couple friends who were highly active truthers back then. One of whom I've recently talked to about the movement ignoring reality in favor of its biased view. He, too, has moved away from seeing conspiracies in everything. But first we had to admit that our world views could be wrong. And that can take time.

Reddit what is the weirdest dream you have ever had? by NoIdeaAtAlllin AskReddit

[–]ABirdNamedFxck 0 points1 point ago

Wet dream where I was in a concentration camp. Head shaved, emaciated, waiting for death; we fucked and picked lice to eat out of the rags they gave us to wear... It was even filmed in black and white, but with a yellowish aged tint...

Annoying Facebook Girl on Being a Fucking Hypocrite by Yoshilingin AdviceAnimals

Oh, I'm sure the AFG you know is a annoying for a number of reasons that don't always involve drinking. The alcohol just dials up the bitch to max.

Those two things don't necessarily contradict each other since the Jesus condones drinking. If you puke on yourself Saturday night/Sunday morning, just another sin to atone for at church.

Redditors with deep voices, how do you deal with it? by 2koolpygin AskReddit

[–]ABirdNamedFxck 2 points3 points ago

Has anyone else in this thread ever had their voice mocked by a squeaky-voiced peer? And it seems like the exaggerated imitation sounds nothing like you, but still there's the thought, "Is that how other people hear me?"

Redditors with deep voices, how do you deal with it? by 2koolpygin AskReddit

[–]ABirdNamedFxck 0 points1 point ago

It could be that when you're tired the sounds are softer, like they're coming from a spot further up the throat, and when rested they're coming out of your upper chest, producing increased bass. No idea if this is the case, but if you try to speak in a higher pitch does it effect the clarity?

My deep voice is at the perfect octave for people to understand the words and then chide me for speaking too loudly. Especially if I'm speaking excitedly about something, there is an unintentional "booming" effect.

This passage nicely sums up some of the GOP's religiosity: "[Atwater] was telling this story about how a Living Bible was what was giving him faith and I said to Mary (Matalin), 'I really, sincerely hope that he found peace.' She said, 'Ed, when we were cleaning up his things afterwards, the Bible was still wrapped in the cellophane and had never been taken out of the package,' which just told you everything there was. He was spinning right to the end."

"I won't vote for Obama." <-- What are liberals who say this thinking? by [deleted]in Liberal

[–]ABirdNamedFxck 5 points6 points ago

"Was the self-satisfaction you got from voting for [Ralph Nader] worth it?"

I voted for him in the 2000 election, and being that I was living in a winner-take-all state (MA), it was completely worth it. Would I have voted for Gore in a less liberal state that didn't award all delegates to the winner? Perhaps, but isn't calling him the spoiler ignoring other factors that played a role (politically-motivated SC, for one)? Edit: Don't know how to format properly, added quotes instead
