Insane HVAC company threatens customers for use of social media by MenthoLyptusin Atlanta

[–]7oby 1 point2 points ago

I looked at your history to try to determine if you were perhaps an agent provocateur, so I understand your cynicism. And there are very good sources about this guy's retaliation techniques. The blog post I linked, at liveapartmentfire, is written by a 11alive reporter, who also posted about the issue on 11alive. I don't believe the OP is said reporter.

Ok? Are you saying that this poster is the same one who reported on this business before? Because I can ask the admins to check.

what deeper track? order of events:

  • Someone posts an article elsewhere about this guy on reddit (I wasn't the one to find it), I repost it to r/atlanta as it's relevant
  • This guy, after my repost it sounds like, hires the company mentioned
  • This guy has issues with the company mentions and posts about it
  • I point out we already had a post about it, and if he'd seen the article here via visiting more often, he might have saved himself time and money
  • he admits that he hadn't seen the subreddit before today (I guess he looked for an appropriate place to rant?) and says he's subscribed now

In summation: If he'd came here earlier, he wouldn't have had a post to make.

Private supply ship, SpaceX Dragon, rockets toward space station, opens new era of spaceflight: A first-of-its-kind commercial supply ship rocketed toward the International Space Station following a successful liftoff early Tuesday, opening a new era of dollar-driven spaceflight. by vegetable_offenderin worldnews

NASA is cheap. Too cheap. /u/neiltyson [explains] (YT):

First of all, let's clarify what the NASA budget is. Do you realize that the $850 billion dollar bailout, that sum of money is greater than the entire 50-year running budget of NASA?

And so when someone says, "We don't have enough money for this space probe," I'm asking, no, it's not that you don't have enough money, it's that the distribution of money that you're spending is warped in some way that you are removing the only thing that gives people something to dream about tomorrow.

You remember the 60s and 70s. You didn't have to go more than a week before there's an article in Life magazine, "The Home of Tomorrow," "The City of Tomorrow," "Transportation of Tomorrow". All of that ended in the 1970s. After we stopped going to the Moon, it all ended. We stopped dreaming.

And so I worry that the decision that Congress makes doesn't factor in the consequences of those decisions on tomorrow. Tomorrow's gone. They're playing for the quarterly report, they're playing for the next election cycle, and that is mortgaging the actual future of this nation, and the rest of the world is going to pass us by.

Thank FSM for SpaceX.

there was an article about them submitted a month or so ago: http://www.reddit.com/r/Atlanta/comments/rep3a/be_careful_about_which_hvac_company_you_post/

sounds like you didn't visit /r/atlanta often enough.

ATT U-verse - I got duped by gwcentin Atlanta

[–]7oby 0 points1 point ago

I used to get these people at my door with an "ID" they made with their inkjet printer and a lamination machine at kinkos and they were doing something for school (or whatever) where they had to sell me magazines. None of it was true and one said she was psychic and knew when she got up this morning that I wasn't gonna buy from her, while spitting on me while she talked (seriously, sylvester the cat spit less) and I just wondered why she knocked if she knew the outcome.

My cats every morning. by gksodahin funny

[–]7oby 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, kidney failure was something they saw at the emergency vet (after the seizures), but they then said his retinas detached and it was just awful. His main vet in the morning said she thought it was something he'd had since being in the pound and that it was undetectable, usually affects cats when they hit 4 (he was), and to check for it would require a quite expensive biopsy. I can't remember the name for the life of me though, and looking at WikiPedia's list of cat diseases doesn't ring any bells.

That's what they thought it was at first, but then they thought it was an acquired illness from the pound that there was no way to test for and so it was gonna happen no matter what. Forgot what they called it.

Any self made millionaires here? by wassupdude82in personalfinance

[–]7oby 0 points1 point ago

That and the stock split he didn't account for. I've done the math in my reply

Any self made millionaires here? by wassupdude82in personalfinance

[–]7oby 2 points3 points ago

First: There was a 2:1 stock split on Feb 18, 2003. Since then there were $7.11 in dividends. So if you put $1000 in MSFT 10 years ago, you'd have bought 35.70 shares (let's go with 35), the dividends started feb 19 2003 so you'd have all of them * 70 plus the stock price of $29.17 * 70 (going with what wolframalpha says instead of yahoo, which says $29.27 for some reason), so $2041.9 + $497.7 = $2539.6. Not $1049.

Diversify. You have more than $1000. Bet on red AND black, sure the payout is less than the possible by picking the winner, but you're practically guaranteed not to lose.

If you don't have more than $1000, $500 in MSFT ($28.01, 17.85 so 17) and $500 in AAPL ($12.37, 40.42 so 40) would have produced $497.59 + $21220 = $21710.

It's a thread in personal finance asking for self made millionaires, and as you can see later in the thread (which is invisible to most as my comment is now "below the threshold"), the OP asked more questions about his situation. The OP is clearly trying to find out how to become a self-made millionaire, and thus, someone lying really doesn't help the thread.

But I guess that means 16 upvotes 32 downvotes, which just doesn't make any sense.

if you put $1000 in AAPL ten years ago ($12.37/share), you'd have $42410 now, so yeah, stocks.

Can you provide something that would give us a reason to believe you're not pulling this out of your ass?

[–]7oby 7 points8 points ago

Freefeeding only works for some cats. Betting your third cat is overweight. Watch out for sudden weight loss, and get him to a vet as soon as possible when that happens, because he's gonna die. Just a tip from someone who's gone through it.

[–]7oby -1 points0 points ago

I know that I didn't have to deal with it personally but the guys who worked at the same location (multi-campus business) with the president did have to go to his house to fix things. But he's the president of the company and that's just how it worked. Not to mention that it comes in handy if you need something, it's a favor based economy.
