It's funny, back in Ireland they used to tell us be careful frying food as it may lead to cancer... or be careful eating too much fish because of the heavy metals... but in China... haha... fuck.

I've bought a number of apps which don't work (i.e. crash when you try to do something with them). The "report this app" link in the appstore doesn't work so now I just don't buy apps anymore.

Also, I try to make an effort to be nice to Chinese as I often see rude foreigners, and I know Chinese people tend to be slightly worse at critical thinking, e.g. does it make sense that all foreigners are bad people? I don't think that sort of questioning comes naturally to the average Chinese person.

I think if it bothers you it suggests you have other anger/mood issues you need to deal with.

I think the random hellos are funny.

Of course, if things change and the hellos start being accompanied with a fist, then I will start worrying, but up to now it is always an almost childish friendliness or a drunk person.

I have been in China a year and have never gotten food poisoning, but the one time I did feel a little strange (don't know if it was due to food poisoning) I only at in McDonald's that day...

I just spent a week in Chongqing (probably China's most heavily policed city - there are police everywhere) and was not bothered, so there doesn't appear to be any problems there.

Note I general dress quite well and look respectable. Don't know if this makes a difference or not. I'm white.

The bombs were dropped for political reasons. I've seen the letter. In a nutshell US politicians felt they had spent so much money developing the bombs there would be political fallout if they didn't use them. Yes, their careers were more important than the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. The bomb memorial museum in Hiroshima has the letter.
