Cities, throughout the country, are still very segregated. Yes, cities like Atlanta and Houston are not as bad as Detroit... but here is a map of Atlanta, with blue dots being where black families live and red dots being where white families live. It's clearly segregated.

Spain Is on the Bleeding Edge of a New European Crisis: Spain’s 709 billion euros of sovereign debt is roughly twice that of Greece, Ireland, and Portugal combined by maxwellhillin worldnews

Uh, Marx very much said that there would be an inevitable crisis that capitalism could not overcome (as each crisis makes the next subsequently worse) and would lead to a proletarian revolution. So yeah, he said capitalism is doomed and eventually it would not be able to find a way out.

"And how does the bourgeoisie get over these crises? On the one hand, by enforced destruction of a mass of productive forces; on the other, by the conquest of new markets, and by the more thorough exploitation of the old ones. That is to say, by paving the way for more extensive and more destructive crises, and by diminishing the means whereby crises are prevented." - Communist Manifesto

"The essential conditions for the existence and for the sway of the bourgeois class is the formation and augmentation of capital; the condition for capital is wage labour. Wage labour rests exclusively on competition between the labourers. The advance of industry, whose involuntary promoter is the bourgeoisie, replaces the isolation of the labourers, due to competition, by the revolutionary combination, due to association. The development of Modern Industry, therefore, cuts from under its feet the very foundation on which the bourgeoisie produces and appropriates products. What the bourgeoisie therefore produces, above all, are its own grave-diggers. Its fall and the victory of the proletariat are equally inevitable." - Communist Manifesto

If you accept that Marx "had capitalism figured out" then you accept it is ultimately doomed. I always wonder about people who say Marx was right about Capitalism but wrong about the solution (socialism leading to stateless, classless communism)... if capitalism is totally screwed what is your solution?

The bi-annual cleaning Lenin's corpse (nsfw?) by jaggazzin WTF

[–]2001greatestyear 12 points13 points ago

Lenin requested to be buried next to his mother before he died.

"Capitalist propaganda always managed to make people think the markets' interests were humanity's interests." Enough, says Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who is galvanising the French presidential elections. He wants a 100% fat-cat tax, a 20% minimum wage increase and the nationalisation of Big Energy by almodozoin occupywallstreet

[–]2001greatestyear 12 points13 points ago

It's correct to say it is unlikely he will win... However, what Melenchon has achieved is still amazing. He has managed to unite the "extreme" left which has often bickered among each other for decades and decades, and then brought it to popular attention. He has been consistently rising in the polls, and is throwing a serious monkey wrench into the "Socialist" Hollande's campaign. He's forced both Sarkozy and Hollande to make promises to raise taxes on the rich.

I mean, over March his poll numbers have doubled. He will not win (unless something insane happens in the next two weeks), but he's drastically changing the dynamic of the race.

By the way, just to illustrate how utterly terrible Blackwater is, a video was just leaked which depicts Blackwater contractors fucking driving over Iraqi woman and fleeing.

It's horrible stuff. Honestly there should be some sorta student movement to change the name of the business school...

I guess it suits a business school to be named after a war profiteer.

I can't find Dylan's version so I guess this'll have to do. Fuck Red McCombs.
