A share that can be traded on the market.

Basically (and with made up numbers), Facebook's stock price is $30, and they have 10,000,000 shares. Meanwhile, Linkedin's stock price is $100, but they only have 1,000,000 shares. So, Facebook is worth $30*10,000,000 = $300,000,000 and Linkedin is worth $100*1,000,000 = $100,000,000.

I'm not an expert, but I believe if you look at market cap (share price * number of shares outstanding), what you see will make a lot more sense than the share price alone.

I agree that Visual Studio is the best Windows IDE, but if Microsoft doesn't do at least a 160 degree turn with Windows 9, I'm going to be looking for the best Linux IDE in a few years.

Spreadsheets online is a direct result of the intricate economics system (among other things). You can play Eve without playing spreadsheets online, but you will never achieve as much as those that do.

As long as the new XBox support DX11, it will be a huge win for PC gamers. The lack of DX11 support is holding back PC games far more than any other factor.

As long as the new generation of consoles uses DX11 and whatever the PS4's equivalent is (OpenGL?) I don't think this will be a big deal.

Taking advantage of better hardware isn't too hard. The fact that developers haven't been taking advantage of the latest graphics frameworks is what's really holding PC gaming back.

You could start by citing sales numbers that include online distribution.

My understanding is that most of the sales numbers that get quoted (which do show consoles as way ahead) only count brick and mortar sales.
