Is anyone else loving the awkwardness that happens every time Tasteless mentions an Artosis pylon? You can just tell that he is flinching and grinning as he says it.

[–]superarmy 7 points8 points ago

Totally, I was hoping Tasteless would mention it the very second I spotted it

[–]Tofuboy 4 points5 points ago

In match 5 game 3, Artosis said "Oz has another one of those poorly placed pylons powering everything!"

[–]learycm 2 points3 points ago

Yeah I loled then too.

[–]SLeigher88 0 points1 point ago

It's kind of a weird situation, in sports people almost never get things named after them until they've long left the game behind. I love it when Tasteless says Artosis pylon though just to hear the silence on the other end.

[–]Nadril 1 point2 points ago

Tasteless: and it looks like there is a sick Artosis pylon there!
Artosis: I Hate you.

Anyone tuned in before the show? The Korean casters were recasting GuMiho vs MVP in English, lol. They have pretty smooth English. :D

[–]frdrk 3 points4 points ago

Hilarious - I also do enjoy me some T'ara :>

[–]testbug0 4 points5 points ago

yup they've been doing it for a while now i think

[–]ionparticle 0 points1 point ago

ohh, didn't know that, no wonder their English is so good now.

[–]Hiwashi 5 points6 points ago

Sick group. Best GSL ever.

[–]Lewke 4 points5 points ago

I'm really looking forward to Nestea DRG though.

[–]ShuPiNnA 1 point2 points ago

Soon...

[–]Mxbn0 1 point2 points ago

Group D really is D for Death. Gonna be some damn good talent kicked out of this GSL from that.

[–]jjay5 5 points6 points ago

there's a decent chance that MMA wil not make it out of the group. It would be an upset, but it wouldn't be surprising. Such a powerful group. I think Puzzle is the odd man out maybe. I hope I am wrong though.

[–]pikagrue 7 points8 points ago

Actually the reason MMA won't make it out is because Fionn predicted him to win on TL...

Every player Fionn has predicted to win has been eliminated.

[–]testbug0 2 points3 points ago

really hope puzzle steps up, he kind of fell off a bit after joinin slayers, seeing his play in different kr online tourneys

[–]jjay5 2 points3 points ago

I am so glad to eat my words on Puzzle That was some SICK SICK PvT. Especially game 2 I noticed every terran picked Crossfire today vP...and won only 1/3.

[–]SmallNip 1 point2 points ago

3 immortal timing looks pretty sweet. Gonna have to try that build on ladder, I think it will work best on maps were the natural is not up a ramp and the map isn't too big, such as shattered temple.

[–]jjay5 2 points3 points ago

The natural cannot be too opened. the reason it works on crossfire is because the forcefields that prevent repairing also simultaneously stop 1/2 the terran units from attacking. It will still work on maps with low ground naturals, like you said, but if T can get a concave so they can target the immortals, it will be a lot more difficult.

[–]Mxbn0 5 points6 points ago

Best micro ever from Oz just then...

[–]frdrk 1 point2 points ago

Aye, looks like he's on the receiving end of a similar attack now though.

[–]Mxbn0 2 points3 points ago

Good defend just then :)

[–]vtbarrera 1 point2 points ago

I never realized Oz's micro was silly good like that. I'm very impressed that he handled a quality player like MMA with ease.

[–]Mxbn0 2 points3 points ago

How did MMA win that? Oz was owning

[–]vtbarrera 2 points3 points ago

MMA caught Oz at a pretty bad choke point and landed some good EMPs to take out most of Oz's army. Even though Oz ended up cleaning up that engagement MMA had already taken out Oz's third and used his superior economy to rebuild a larger army back at home and had enough to end the game.

[–]thatdudecalledZZ 2 points3 points ago

gogo Oz and Puzzle!

[–]CrabCommander 0 points1 point ago

Oz letting me down! D: Though he did have to face MMA twice and still managed 3rd in the group, so I can't really complain that much.

Puzzle vs Supernova G1

some of the best play under pressure i've ever seen. holy shitballs, puzzle.
also.. the standard robo, support bay, double forge, stargate, twilight defense off of two base.

[–]mmkramer 2 points3 points ago

That's actually a really intelligent defense and good decision making by Puzzle, reminded me of the ideas in this guide:

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=300184

That extreme tech play is exactly what you need to defeat a tech heavy Terran army :)

[–]destroyeraseimprove 1 point2 points ago

Well.. he won fairly impressively.. seemed like he had exactly the right tools for the job, just needed to micro properly

Do you think chronoing out 2 carriers (maybe double stargate?) would work for that situation btw?

[–]mmkramer 1 point2 points ago

Well.. he won fairly impressively.. seemed like he had exactly the right tools for the job, just needed to micro properly

Yeah, he figured out what was going on fast enough and started making good tech decisions (colo, double forge, twilight) and then when he scouted the second starport he was able to add the stargate in as well. All he had to do was buy enough time for everything to come together, I think if Supernova didn't push so slowly then he might have had a chance.

Do you think chronoing out 2 carriers (maybe double stargate?) would work for that situation btw?

Hmm, I don't think that would be a good response because that's a WAY heftier tech investment than the stuff Puzzle actually did (fleet beacon + 2 stargates + 2 carriers is a huge amount of minerals and gas that won't get much out on the field quickly). Puzzle's tech investments helped him get to a very strong and deadly army that would be strong again the units and production that Supernova had. Carriers wouldn't be as strong because superonva has 2 ports, vikings are actually really effective vs carriers (so supernova can react and adapt to that, whereas he couldn't transition against the double forge upgrades + twilight tech).

[–]destroyeraseimprove 2 points3 points ago

oh yeah true, vikings

T_T

I'm always looking for rational justification to go carriers

[–]BobaTheBear 1 point2 points ago

"Artosis, do you like Hot Six?"

[–]waitwaaaaat 1 point2 points ago

Is the sponsor of the new gsl really something called hot69?

[–]SlowCookah 8 points9 points ago

nah, it's hot6√(-1)*x

[–]naronios[S] 1 point2 points ago

nope its HOT6iX yesterday someone made the Joke that IX in roman numbers is 9 so it would be HOT69

[–]ZergBiased 4 points5 points ago

I bet it is intentional, no way someone in the marketing room didn't see it. Korean or not, someone somewhere was being cheeky.

[–]testbug0 4 points5 points ago

hot sex

[–]ZergBiased 1 point2 points ago

Queen on Queen action. Inject bitch, inject!

[–]destroyeraseimprove 2 points3 points ago

I don't know whether there really is a marketing room... nobody on air has yet explained to me what the hell hot6ix even does.. the only reason why I'm just googling it now is because of this thread

edit: apparently it's some energy drink. whatever. I only drink Bear Sementm ...

[–]ZergBiased 1 point2 points ago

Yeah I thought it was some kind of Tech/hardware company at first, sometimes they have cans of it sitting in the booths you can see them when they pan out away from players.

[–]Korelle 0 points1 point ago

As a Protoss player I must say that I hope Puzzle and Oz don't both go through here, just because it'll cause the ill informed balance whines to reach a pitch so high that every dog in the world will start barking.

[–]monstroh 5 points6 points ago

and you will feel like terrans do? lol. all MUs seem pretty balanced right now, It will be nice for people to stop whinning about imbalace everytime but it will go on forever, lol, even when the stats show Zerg over Protoss with a clear margin, you have a Pro like Idra saying "Zerg can't win agains Protoss"...

[–]bpgbcg -1 points0 points ago

To be fair, the statistics generally lag behind the top metagame. IdrA may have a history of complaining about balance but he also has a history of being right even when people dismiss him. ("Terrans aren't beating Zerg late game" "Well, that's cause they aren't using ghosts" cue TvZ mass ghost lategame becoming standard).

I am not expressing an opinion about these particular IdrA comments.

[–]jjay5 0 points1 point ago

As of right now, DRG and Nestea said during selection stages that they cannot figure out how to beat P. They did not complain about balance, just that they need to catch up. GSL is trying very very hard to balance T, by removing gold bases, for example, because they do recognize that Mules are very high powered, and making maps bigger, with wider expansions.

[–]naronios[S] 1 point2 points ago

i'm trying to keep it updated. I'm not sure right now if i can watch all the matches but i will definitely update it afterwards.

[–]moozlepop 1 point2 points ago

I want to see a MMA / Supernova series. Should be sick.

[–]Number3 1 point2 points ago

Damn, already stayed up till 7:30 am last night because the games were so great, this group looks even more evenly matched.

[–]bpgbcg 1 point2 points ago

I can't believe Oz just lost all those probes to the hellions and came back to hold that 1-1-1.

[–]monstroh 1 point2 points ago

Top 3 control, but really, flanking with stalkers and immortals is how you counter 1-1-1, supernova should have gotten a raven or just macro up instead of getting in the middle of OZ army trying to get an quick win.

[–]k4f123 1 point2 points ago

GomTV.net has not worked for me for a couple of days now. Anyone else facing any problems?

[–]IIGrudge 0 points1 point ago

Try a different browser. It stopped working for me on Chrome but IE still works.

[–]Cyssero 2 points3 points ago

Please tell me that isn't Nickelback in my GSL. ಠ_ಠ

[–]TrjnRabbit 3 points4 points ago

It was.

At least they tried to cleanse our musical palates by following it up with Dream Theater.

[–]destroyeraseimprove 3 points4 points ago

I don't understand what is going on anymore. They played Obzen by Meshuggah at one point.

[–]partysnatcher 1 point2 points ago

It's really shocking considering all the quality music they usually pick out.

/s

[–]mmkramer 1 point2 points ago

I had to mute the stream and load up spotify, I usually like the music and how B.K. tries to introduce viewers to new songs / artists and his descriptions, but I just can't really get into nickelback. Listening to an entire nickelback song is the musical equivalent of the cinnamon challenge
