Use QuickLook…

Or Safari.

Drag 'em into a browser window.

Select them all in the Finder window, then press the space bar to bring them up in Quicklook. Use the arrow keys to move between them. You can also show them in full screen.

This assumes you are using Lion. If not, you are probably limited to opening them in a browser.

I'm in Snow Leopard I'm afraid. Good to know they have sorted it out for the latest release of OS!

Animated GIF QuickLook Plugin

I'm not sure what I'm using anymore, but my GIFs are all animated. Most likely this plugin, as I know it wasn't an app.

just as a FYI: You don't need that in Lion, but can help in Leo/SNLeo. I wish I knew about that! (~6 years w/o the joy of just previewing a gif from finder! D: )

Didn't see the app mentioned here so i'll recommend Xee, far better for viewing images than preview and it's free

I was using preview, I was unaware you needed to pop them into safari or something.

you don't. use QuickLook as the best comment of the thread propose.

example: there's an animated .gif file on your desktop. click it once then hit spacebar once. you are now in QuickLook.
now let's pretend you're in a folder full of animated gifs. once in QuickLook, use the arrow keys to browse between images.

at least, QuickLook is displaying them fine (animated) in Lion (just upgraded to it Friday). They weren't animated in Leopard (PPC) for me. hth

e if you don't have Lion, use the plugin that FlyersPh9 is linking. It will enable the animation in QuickLook and you'll be good to go.
