I loved how they handled the Selena Gomez cameo. When I saw her all I could think was "does this girl even know who the Muppets are??" and she just says "yeah I have no idea who the Muppets are, my agent just told me to be here". Perfect.

[–]Shut_Up_Dude 47 points48 points ago

Also with the kid who was with her. I've seen his face enough to know he's famous, but I think Kermit or Jason Segel spaced on his name ("aaaaaand..... you!") which is exactly what I did.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points ago

Yeah, who was that kid anyways?

[–]UnaccompaniedMinor 51 points52 points ago

Manny from Modern Family. Which is a very funny show and definitely worth watching!

[–]sangriadvx 21 points22 points ago

I thought Donald Glover's cameo was awesome as well. Although he wasn't listed as a cameo for some odd reason. Jack Black was fantastic as well. Definitely an amazing movie. Lots of subtle humor as well.

[–]DreamCatcher24 6 points7 points ago

To be fair, I am in the same age as her and I know who the muppets are.

[–]rospaya 2 points3 points ago

I'm not much older than her and I live on the other side of the planet, but Muppets are pop culture, you can't not know who they are, even if you haven's seen a single episode.

I don't get it why she wouldn't know.

[–]CorkyKribler 89 points90 points ago

"The Economist is reporting that the Muppets are back together."

[–]knuxo 73 points74 points ago

"There's oil under here. I can smell it! Also, the geological survey says there definitely is."

[–]ystwyth 69 points70 points ago

"Maniacal laugh. Maniacal laugh!"

[–]cunspirator 155 points156 points ago

life is a filet of fish.... shrug yes it is.

[–]jaybof 19 points20 points ago

[–]Ahhartsock 17 points18 points ago

Holy shit... TIL Bret McKenzie wrote the song. I fucking LOVE that song.

[–]NumberFiveAlive 18 points19 points ago

He wrote all the songs.

[–]OdessaOracle 14 points15 points ago

...with Jason Segel

[–]Prax150 6 points7 points ago

He obviously had input since he wrote the screenplay, but technically, he didn't write any of the songs.

[–]OdessaOracle 1 point2 points ago

looks legit. thanks for the correction.

[–]mp6521 0 points1 point ago

I was listening to an old World Cafe session that the Conchords did in 07, and Bret specifically mentions the Muppets as an influence on his comedy, so it's really cool that he go to be a part of this awesome movie!

[–]Arbusto 54 points55 points ago

Opening 10-15 minutes = pure happiness and fun. Middle plot bit = a bit slow End 45 mins or so = hilarious.

[–]MisFit4Me 6 points7 points ago

Yeah, this is how I felt, too. I mean, it was a good movie, but the best parts were the set up and then them putting on the show.

[–]OccupiedArrest 17 points18 points ago

After the first big sceen th tone turns really sad. I was sitting in the theater thinking of how much eerbody misses Jim. Super sad movie for m. But at the same time one of the funnies things ive watched in forever. Absolutly amzing!

[–]theclumsyninja 49 points50 points ago

I started crying when Kermit started singing The Rainbow Connection

[–]gobongo 15 points16 points ago

I'm a grown ass man (who watched the Muppet Show and saw the first Muppet Movie as a kid), and I almost tear up every time I hear that song. Only song I know of that has that sort of emotional impact on me.

[–]WildYorkies 12 points13 points ago

When the whole cast joined in, we really didn't stand a chance.

[–]PopInACup 4 points5 points ago

The one song he does, he says "Some things broken, we can't fix" or something along those lines. Made me think of Jim. I got all ferklempt during that song.

[–]tedivm 3 points4 points ago

I'm glad I wasn't the only one.

[–]mp6521 3 points4 points ago

LIKE DIS IF U CRY EVRY TIME

[–]arcalden 1 point2 points ago

I wibbled a bit there too. It was very soulful.

[–]stooner 1 point2 points ago

An upvote for you, good sir...

[–]SamHellerman 1 point2 points ago

Oh man, I assumed I was the only one. It just -- in that moment I just realized how much I always loved that song. And it made me think of Jim.

[–]Fazaman 13 points14 points ago

I got really sad when Kermit was looking at the wall of celebrity guests, and right in the middle was Kermit with Jim Henson.

[–]Napasaurus 14 points15 points ago

I don't get why you're being downvoted. I cried like 4 times.

[–]nicko68 6 points7 points ago

Oh frig, I'm not the only one, thank God. Hearing them sing about how nobody cares about them any more? That "pictures in my mind" song? Teared up like an old fart living through a nostalgic moment. :)

I do care about the Muppets. Why did they disappear for so long? And my son, who is now 9, sure liked the movie.

[–]Napasaurus 2 points3 points ago

Bro hug with lots of back slaps to show it's totally not unmanly to hug after crying at the muppets.

[–]CorkyKribler 22 points23 points ago

Upvote ef u crey evertim :(

[–]Napasaurus 6 points7 points ago

Movies make me cry like I'm a PMSing woman, while real life just makes me do the "Okay" face. So yes I crey evertim. Have an upvote.

[–]WildYorkies 4 points5 points ago

I'm just going to leave this here ;_;

[–]odo96 39 points40 points ago

The "Destroy Plumbing Business" gag was the first thing in a while to leave me completely in stitches.

[–]f_zzyslippers 15 points16 points ago

Agreed. Gonzo was hardly in the movie compared to recent history, but everything he did was pure gold.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points ago

When he was talking about wearing his cannonball costume under his business suit every day i started howling

[–]Horrorshow7 36 points37 points ago

"Why does everybody forget about Hobo Joe?"

Almost pissed myself at that line. Barely managed to not sob like a baby when Kermit and Piggy sang "Rainbow Connection". Been humming "Man or a Muppet" ever since. I will be seeing this movie again.

[–]timisblue 3 points4 points ago

I was rolling when I saw Zach as Hobo Joe. SO GOOD

[–]minzeb45 0 points1 point ago

I've always thought I was kind of a Muppet of a man, but now I have a song to put it into words.

[–]1point21 38 points39 points ago

Did any one else get a kick out of 80's Robot? "Would any one like a soda... Tab, or New Coke?"

[–]MyNameIsBruce2 17 points18 points ago

That modem...

[–]goletaal 11 points12 points ago

"I will use my mo-dem..."

[–]jclemy 26 points27 points ago

I want to go see it again! Jason Segel obviously loves the Muppets to have helped create something that great.

New show?

[–]Allisonaxe 12 points13 points ago

New show?

oh, if only!

[–]f_zzyslippers 35 points36 points ago

Excellent movie for muppet fans. A few minor nitpicky flaws (No dialogue for Rizzo, no new Electric Mayhem songs) but overall I enjoyed it and plan to see it again at least once.

[–]wyzzerd 46 points47 points ago

That was really my one minor complaint about the movie. Some Muppets just didn't get enough or any screen time. Also, while I don't hate Jack Black, I wish it would have been Neil Patrick Harris who "hosted" the show.

[–]Mostexcellent27 60 points61 points ago

but that's why the cameo line was so funny!

[–]QuinguaTaichou 22 points23 points ago

The best line in the movie. Because it's true.

[–]grossRealist 4 points5 points ago

which line was that?

[–]Aurick 17 points18 points ago

The line where someone asks Neil why he isn't the one hosting the show and he says he has no idea and that he'd love to have been the one.

[–]QuinguaTaichou 2 points3 points ago

No, I don't know why I'm not hosting this.

[–]Jbellzer 1 point2 points ago

Where was Kermit's nephew?!

[–]celtic1888 39 points40 points ago

Breaking Bad.

Beeker as Pinkman

'Meep, Meep, Yo'

[–]WinterIsCumming 25 points26 points ago

MEEP MEEP BITCH

FTFY

[–]Dr_Robotnik 1 point2 points ago

Beaker Bad.

[–]Brenden105[S] 16 points17 points ago

Rizzo was really one in the movie for a few seconds... odd I didn't think about that until now.

[–]roboroller 10 points11 points ago

I actually leaned over to my wife halfway through the movie and asked "where's Rizzo"? It was odd to only have him in the movie for a split second with no dialogue.

[–]f_zzyslippers 2 points3 points ago

The most weird thing about it is Steve Whitmire got a voice credit for Rizzo. It's his muppet that he originated so it makes sense in that respect but Jefferson Starship deserved it a little bit more.

[–]anti_taco 2 points3 points ago

No Pepe either, that was upsetting.

[–]f_zzyslippers 8 points9 points ago

Pepe had dialogue. He and Bobo the bear were the only Muppets Tonight muppets as far as I know. Poor Kevin Clash.

[–]JeddHampton 2 points3 points ago

Pepe was dancing with Miss Piggy. He had a line or two in there.

[–]homahuey 10 points11 points ago

Yeah, I missed Rizzo, if only because of the ammount of time he had in the other Muppet movies. But then, I thought about it and Rizzo has always been slightly more mean spirited than the other Muppets, so it made sense not to feature him.

[–]fikustree 2 points3 points ago

I don't think Rizzo is a character until the third movie. I don't remember him in the show either.

[–]TGreenMachine 49 points50 points ago

I'MMMMMMM AAAAAAAAA MUPPET!

[–]The_Milk_man 45 points46 points ago

I'MMMMMMM AAAAAA MAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!

[–]Deviant_Orphan 29 points30 points ago

that song was so aweswome, the whole movie was for that matter.

[–]The_Milk_man 15 points16 points ago

I got the soundtrack just because of this song.

[–]Deviant_Orphan 3 points4 points ago

i want to pick it up. i have been listening to ok go doing the muppets theme for like an hour now. i love it, also dig that foust shows up at the beginning during the opening number.

[–]Poop_In_A_Can 22 points23 points ago

A muppet of a man

[–]AerialAmphibian 33 points34 points ago

Or a really manly muppet...

[–]WildYorkies 4 points5 points ago

The flight of the conchords influence is so obvious now!

[–]Prax150 0 points1 point ago

A muppety man.

[–]woowie 21 points22 points ago

Yeah, that first song may just be my first dance with the husband at the wedding reception.

I want the tv show back now. Even Disney's Muppets Tonight wasn't terrible...

[–]lazylion_ca 6 points7 points ago

I always wanted my first dance to be to Rainbow Connection.

[–]woowie 4 points5 points ago

Last month we went to a wedding where that was the dance for the groom and mother. The bride and groom dance to Mr Roger's "It's You I Like". It was really unique!

[–]bagboyrebel 1 point2 points ago

Rainbow Connection is actually a really good Waltz song.

[–]f_zzyslippers 7 points8 points ago

I've always wanted Kermit to permanently take over as host on one of the late night talk shows.

[–]wagedomain 4 points5 points ago

"Welcome to the Tonight Show, with your host, Kermit the Frog!"

[–]kuuks 7 points8 points ago

He would be sooo much better than that fool Jay.

[–]SamHellerman 3 points4 points ago

YaaaAAaaAAyYYYYY

[–]caitief 1 point2 points ago

My husband and i have been singing that to each other all weekend

[–]cuttups 1 point2 points ago

Muppets Tonight is fantastic.

[–]SuchAGoodTalker 61 points62 points ago

Maniacal laugh.... MANIACAL LAUGH!

[–]heartthrowaways 11 points12 points ago

I actually probably laughed most when he just randomly blurted out that there's oil under the studio. Such a well timed gag to throw in on a skeletal plot designed largely for antics.

[–]sxysteve 27 points28 points ago

I thought that was annoying and awkward as shit every time he did that. I like the movie but I think they could have found a better villain.

[–]avalanches 80 points81 points ago

Apparently there were a lot of scenes cut regarding Chris Coopers' character in the film, and one of the reasons he's supposedly trying to take down the muppets theatre is because he doesn't have the ability to laugh. He was made fun of as a kid when everyone else was watching the muppets and laughing, and while he enjoyed it too, he couldn't laugh. That's why at the end of the movie when Gonzo hits him with the bowling ball, he starts laughing - then he gives back the theatre. And it also gives more depth to the "Maniacal laugh" scenes

[–]sxysteve 29 points30 points ago

Yeah I couldnt tell if he was just annoyingly telling them to laugh or laughing himself. They should have added at least something that said he couldnt laugh.

[–]Zergking 13 points14 points ago

They did. One of his henchmen mentions briefly that he couldn't laugh.

Lucavious heard it too.

[–]sxysteve 10 points11 points ago

Yeah but he mentioned it at the end after him doing it for 2 hours.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points ago

That makes sense. Parts of the story seemed a little thin. Looking forward to seeing a "director's cut".

[–]Lucavious 9 points10 points ago

I didn't realize this until the very end when the muppet accused him of not being able to laugh that this was why he made them laugh like that. Wasn't explained well in the movie.

[–]jnish 5 points6 points ago

Source? This is really interesting and give a much better plot line than typical "evil guy for a profit"

[–]avalanches 2 points3 points ago

This is info from a preview screening

[–]mainsworth 3 points4 points ago

Can't wait for the Directors Cut.

[–]SmokeSerpent 11 points12 points ago

A better villain than Chris Cooper? You're getting greedy.

[–]strangerdanger99 24 points25 points ago

However, the rap scene was outright hilarious. As was everything about the film.

[–]gormanator 1 point2 points ago

Described on paper, this is the dumbest joke ever. Somehow it was really funny on screen

[–]Jordancooper11 19 points20 points ago

Dave grohl did a camio. I was very pleased.

[–]slackerish 18 points19 points ago

where was this? I saw his name in the credits and was shocked, I guess it was when I was in the bathroom.

But the cameos were awesome. I'm glad they got three Community characters in there <3

[–]GoshItsCoolNow 21 points22 points ago

He was the drummer of the Moopets.

[–]lazylion_ca 5 points6 points ago

I count two, who was the third?

[–]TheChudleyCannon 5 points6 points ago

Jack Black. He plays Buddy in Greendale's "cool study group"

[–]CorkyKribler 13 points14 points ago

Maybe that's how they got the rights to that one song that I won't spoil?

[–]tedivm 7 points8 points ago

Jack Blacks reaction to that was amazing.

[–]snowKFH 0 points1 point ago

Why I was able to enjoy it here whereas in that other movie when it came on I just got mad.

[–]parting_shot 2 points3 points ago

Yeees! I was wondering about that! Dave Grohl is awesome enough to swing that.

[–]sangriadvx 1 point2 points ago

That would make sense actually. Dave Grohl's a bro.

[–]1992coolrunnings 18 points19 points ago

It was really everything I wanted it to be and more. I fucking loved this movie

[–]strangerdanger99 17 points18 points ago

Did you travel by map to the theater?

[–]PhineusQButterfat 17 points18 points ago

I just saw this movie about an hour ago and I left with one major thought: "Why is The Muppet Show not on Sunday nights anymore???" TV needs this show back on!!

[–]masteractor 11 points12 points ago

Maniacal laugh. Maniacal laugh. Maniacal laugh.

[–]Aurick 18 points19 points ago

The first half of the movie all I could think was:

THIS IS THE NEW BLUES BROTHERS! THEY'RE GETTIN THE BAND BACK TOGETHER!

[–]kcg5 2 points3 points ago

same exact plot, need money or the place is gonna close.. get everybody back together.

[–]Rocketbird 10 points11 points ago

That's nothing! One time I waited a whole year for September!

[–]thatcreepbehindyou 17 points18 points ago

There is a strong lack of people talking about how good this movie is

[–]chiswede 4 points5 points ago*

Pure awesomeness. Chicken Cee Lo Green!

[–]euphonical 2 points3 points ago

'80s robot!

[–]Briscotti 18 points19 points ago

[–]WinterIsCumming 3 points4 points ago

Didn't have any idea he was in it until the credits when they showed him again.

[–]Furrychipmunk 23 points24 points ago

I love the teachers line: "I just wanted to make a difference!"

[–]zmaniacz 4 points5 points ago

You mean Bill Nye's line.

[–]kcg5 11 points12 points ago

and james carville.. weird bunch of people.. hirsch? silverman?

[–]abijnk 6 points7 points ago

My husband leaned over and goes, "uh, is that James Carville?"

"Yes, it is."

"What does he have to do with any of this?"

It provided a good laugh, though!

[–]CookiesandCandy 3 points4 points ago

I desperately was hoping he'd say "Cajun style!"

[–]yayoranges 5 points6 points ago

Don't forget Mickey Rooney.

[–]vanzee 4 points5 points ago

Trivia: His son Michael was the choreographer.

[–]jolieRules 5 points6 points ago

NPH: "Yeah, I don't know why I'm not hosting this."

[–]MetalPanda 5 points6 points ago

I liked ZG's the best

[–]Momentumjam 11 points12 points ago

I think Sheldon's (Jim Parsons?) cameo was my favorite. It was so unexpected, and hilarious.

[–]prince_of_tacoma 5 points6 points ago

ZG's cameo was amazing. All four of his lines had me laughing hysterical. Just him showing up as a hobo was pretty funny.

[–]Lucavious 8 points9 points ago

NOBODY EVER REMEMBERS HOBO JOE.

[–]Prax150 3 points4 points ago

Galifianakis + plus anything even remotely connected to children is always gold. You should check out the SNL digital short they did when he was interviewing children to be his assistant.

[–]anti_taco 2 points3 points ago

All hail the hobo king!

[–]feyyd 1 point2 points ago

[–]Dr_Robotnik 3 points4 points ago

Did anyone else tear up when Kermit sung "pictures in my head"?

[–]wild9 4 points5 points ago

Why does everybody forget about hobo joe??

[–]skylenorman 3 points4 points ago

"All hail the HOBO KING!"

[–]Stalked_Like_Corn 8 points9 points ago

I've heard a lot of good things about this movie but is it really quality or just childhood memories are making it better?

[–]samer791 31 points32 points ago

I was never a huge Muppets fan (I really only was familiar with Kermit/Piggy and Electric Meyhem), and I loved it! Very funny, fourth-wall breaking/quippy style of humor.

[–]OccupiedArrest 12 points13 points ago

I took my girlfriend last night (23) she had never watched muppets and wasn't to familiar with most the injokes but overall she laughed throughout te movie. It really is everything you would expect the new muppet movie to be and more.

[–]lazylion_ca 3 points4 points ago

I had to play the first muppet movie for my gf the night before.

I think she has Mahna Mahna stuck in her head now.

[–]dominicaldaze 9 points10 points ago

they take the piss out of a lot of hollywood and musical tropes... reminded me a bit of pee-wee's playhouse that way. it's def. made to be kid-friendly but there is a lot for adults to catch. in fact there were very very few kids there when i went. nearly all 20-30 somethings.

[–]syme 9 points10 points ago

The barbershop quartet humming "Smells Like Teen Spirit" got me.

[–]siff 5 points6 points ago

I can just see the kids growing up a little and being shocked at the lyrics to 'that song the chickens sang in the muppets movie.'
It got a laugh out of me, for sure.

[–]brandaustin 2 points3 points ago

The ScarFace joke is AMAZING

[–]brandaustin 2 points3 points ago

Relevant: slight muppet spoilers (part of the trailer though) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUUcOmgYEhY#t=50s

[–]roboroller 6 points7 points ago

I went to see it with my wife and stepdaughter. Before the movie my wife didn't really seem that exited to see the film. "Aren't you exited?" I asked, "It's the Muppets!" I said. "The Muppets are okay...I guess." she said with virtually no emotion. Total bummer. After the movie though she was gushing about how good it was and how much she loved it so I think it works on a level beyond pure nostalgia. Step daughter also freaked out over it. Total win-win.

[–]Stalked_Like_Corn 2 points3 points ago

Okay, sold lol. I must go see it now if someone can go from "meh" to "awesome".

[–]WinterIsCumming 4 points5 points ago

I honestly never liked the Muppets as a kid, I think Miss Piggy's voice and character is extremely annoying and no amount of hype could have prepared me for how much fun I had at the theater. Honestly I would recommend it to anyone, one of the funniest movies I've seen this year.

[–]limecat 1 point2 points ago

My girlfriend had never seen a Muppet movie and loved it.

[–]NoSandwichOnlyZuul 3 points4 points ago

I cried so many happy tears watching this movie. I don't remember the last time I was so happy in a movie theater. Can't wait to buy this and watch it daily

[–]soth09 3 points4 points ago

I'm happy for the mup love, but I've seen 5 or 6 posts Daily about it. Its bordering on viral marketing.

And I saw the original at the drive in. For clarity.

[–]JollyJeff 4 points5 points ago

I kept expecting Steve Martin to show up, otherwise, an excellent movie, took my 14 and 16 year old kids and they loved it too. Can't wait to go see Hugo in 3D tomorrow!

[–]Lavernius_Tucker 6 points7 points ago

As a guy in his mid-twenties, it feels like I'd be a bit old to go see this movie by myself. Am I correct?

[–]RaunchyBulbasaur 14 points15 points ago

If anything you're too young.

[–]bob_99 20 points21 points ago

You are incorrect. Go see it!

[–]Lavernius_Tucker 3 points4 points ago

Well, now I just don't know what to think

[–]SLEEPYZ 2 points3 points ago

I'm a guy in his late twenties and I liked it

[–]theduck 2 points3 points ago

I'm in my mid-fifties, and although I didn't have to, I'd have seen it by myself without a qualm. Laugh-out-loud funny, genuinely touching, and obviously made by people who love the Muppets. Turn off your computer and go see it. Right now.

[–]draynen 2 points3 points ago

I saw it by myself as someone in their late twenties, in a mostly empty theater on Thanksgiving after work (because I was going to do at least ONE awesome thing on thanksgiving if I didn't get to stuff myself on turkey). I was laughing my ass off the entire time, while everyone else seemed perhaps too sedated from dinner to really engage in the movie... which was a little sad.

[–]parting_shot 3 points4 points ago

nope, go see it. I went to a 2pm show with my 8 year old daughter, and there were several guys there by themselves. (although I hope it was to see the movie... didn't think of that until reddit)

[–]gregsaw 5 points6 points ago

Everyone should definitely buy the soundtrack, if only for the Tex Richman song.

[–]anderton 0 points1 point ago

My thoughts exactly.

[–]StaffSergeant 0 points1 point ago

The Moopets Movie was great!!!

[–]JTHipster 0 points1 point ago

I will believe it when I see it.

[–]biggbuckz 2 points3 points ago

I know more or less nothing about the muppets (but did watch muppet babies when I was a kid)... is it worth seeing? As far as I can tell in the comments, nostalgia is playing the biggest part in it being good.

[–]theduck 2 points3 points ago

If it was just "nostalgia" I don't think this would have gotten made, and it's not nostalgia that made it as good as it is. There's enough story here to hang the movie on, and most of the jokes come out of the situation, not simply looking for the next joke. Absolutely worth seeing for anyone that enjoys a well-made movie whose only mission is to provide laughter (the third greatest gift!).

[–]justtrytoguess 2 points3 points ago

I've never seen an episode of the Muppets. It was an amazing movie with or without knowing them well.

[–]godofallcows 2 points3 points ago

My cheeks are sore from laughing in this movie. All the small things just made me bust out and love this movie. Sadly the entire theater did not get the humor or find it funny and I was alone with a friend laughing the entire time. Haters gonna hate, the Smells Like Teen Spirit scene had me in tears, even if the 10 year olds in the audience didn't understand it.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

Cake does a good version of mahna mahna. YouTube it :)

[–]bcda12 2 points3 points ago

man, this movie took me by surprised. I went in not expecting much but WOW.

I laughed, I was nearly brought to tears and my mood just went way up through the roof. It was quite possibly one of the best movies I've ever seen. I never laughed this hard at a movie in ages. it totally hit every single note in terms of humor. Not to mention the fact that it didn't modernize the Muppets. The way that they were portrayed as the classic characters that we know and love was just too perfect. If I were to EVER meet the writers in person, no words would express how thankful I am that this movie was made.

absolute masterpiece!

[–]jackcharlatan 5 points6 points ago

I went to see it with my girlfriend's family which included her 4 year old nephew. It was a 1:30p matinee and there were a ton of similarly aged children there. The adults loved it and spent most of the movie laughing. The kids in the theatre were so bored that they were running up and down the aisles by about the halfway point. My girlfriend's nephew was crying about two-thirds of the way through because he wanted to leave.

I honestly loved it and was excited when they were singing the opening song, but I would caution everyone thinking of bringing small children. This is the Muppet Show and not Sesame Street.

There was also a list of about 5 or 6 things that I would have changed, but I believe that my bitching allowance has been exceeded for today.

[–]JulieAndrews 9 points10 points ago

I saw it yesterday with a 6-year-old, a 10-year-old, and a pair of grandparents. Everybody loved it. I guess I should qualify that these kids, like all well-raised children, have seen The Muppet Show on DVD.

A 4-year-old is almost too young for any full-length movie in a theater, though. The Winnie The Pooh movies are the only thing I can think of that have been in theaters in the last decade, and even those can make a 4-year-old cry.

[–]jackcharlatan 4 points5 points ago

I guess Mary Poppins would know best.

[–]lazylion_ca 2 points3 points ago

I do have the agree with you. Muppets are for older kids.

[–]SuchAGoodTalker 1 point2 points ago

I don't know about that... My three year old loved it. The five year old next to us was totally sucked into it.

[–]Brenden105[S] 3 points4 points ago

Apparently all of /r/movies has already seen it because every comment so far is an inside joke about the movie.

[–]becbot 4 points5 points ago

Couldn't stop smiling the whole time... I think what is so great about it is that it just leans into the cheesiness and nostalgia of it all, which actually keeps it from being cheesy (if that makes sense?) I think it may be my new favorite movie

Either way, I hope this brings a renaissance of Muppet everything!

[–]Chocoprince 2 points3 points ago

Nice try, Kermit

[–]topplehat 2 points3 points ago

Hollywood execs all up in r/movies.

This is the second highly upvoted post for the Muppets this weekend, I'm thinking this is viral marketing. Why not? They've marketed everywhere else.

I was forced to download the theme song...

Whats with the weird cameos? anyone notice a "brazil" homage in there?

can I just point out how awkward it was seeing Jason Segel being such a different character than he usually is.

I liked Jason Segal, but humans should only be secondary characters. We want to see Muppets! They are the charming ones!

It wasnt about him, it really was the muppets at the heart of the show.

YES!!! I just saw it. Loved it.

Anyone else think Amy Adams was looking like she gained a few lbs?

If watching The Muppets movie is my first peek at the muppets, will I like it? I mean without any background information.

Here in Australia it doesn't come out until early January. What the fuck is that all about?

This was such a well done film, I loved it from start to finish. It was just a plain fun ride. Jason Segal handled this material so expertly it was fantastic. The end had me scratching my head a bit. It seemed a bit abrupt and confusing. It was just the way they packaged it really. Nonetheless the I still loved the whole movie.

I laughed, I teared, I'm going to see it again.
