The only guide I've ever owned was for Ocarina of Time.

I bought one for Brood War. I was to terrible at starcraft, I thought it would help out. It helped a little, but I just don't have the skill for starcraft.

Fist-bump for a fellow Starcraft short bus rider. Even on easy single player the later levels kicked my ass.

Super Mario Galaxy 2; but I worked at Gamestop and saved like 30% on it for buying it with discount and with game. I did use it but never beat the game before I sold my Wii. I miss my Wii sometimes!

I actually own 8 or 9, because when people gift games they assume I actually WANT them... However, I've only put my Fallout New Vegas and Assassin's Creed (for collectibles, etc.) ones to good use.

The Morrowind Prophecies. Mostly because it had a ton of extra info and explanation to the quests. It made some of the stuff make much more sense.

I've bought two. One was for Mass Effect 2. I though it would have the ways to chose your paragon and renegade; it didn't. FWIW, after choosing to tell a female reporter I didn't like a story then watching the reaction I wanted to know what I was choosing before hand. The guide was zero help.

My mother bought me a World of Warcraft strategy guide in grade 5. I read that shit everyday, even though it had everything I already knew, being the WoW addict I was. I did share it though, and got a couple of people in my class playing because of it.

I bought the guide for Majora's Mask. Well I say bought it - my friend lent it to me but never asked for it back. By the time he asked years later, it had long been lost somewhere in my house.

That's the only one I ever had. I figured a long time ago that anything in a strategy guide is definitely online somewhere for free and probably not hard to find.

When I was young and didn't use the internet much. But now, why waste money on one when you can get everything you need for free? Unless of course you want one for a collecting purpose or something.

Knights of the Old Republic. Kinda helped.

Jet Force Gemini for N64. Bought the guide right after I found out you need to collect every tribal to fight the final boss. I can't believe they haven't made a sequel for it yet, it was such an incredible game.

I've bought many. The only ones I will ever buy now are for Elder Scrolls. Morrowind/Oblivion was a few hundred pages and Skyrim will be the same. Worth the read.

Yes, almost anytime I buy an RPG game. The maps, crafting charts, and other detailed info is nice to have in one book. The doubleday guides for Disgaea games are awesome. As someone else mentioned, they are a collectible to some of us.

Got the one for Twilight Princess at the Nintendo World Store because it was all fancy and stuff, gold leaf on the edges of the pages, and a nice cloth map.

Sim City 4. It was freaking huge and I didn't understand any of it, so I just looked at the nice pictures.

When I was a kid I had a couple of them.

I remember having guides for FF VII, FF VIII, Chrono Cross... couple others I don't remember now.

With the rise of the internet though, I haven't bought a guide in YEARS

I remember my dad got me Diablo for my birthday one year and it came with a strategy guide. I forgot the company that made the guide, but yeah, it was stupid. I kept dying on the butcher and that guide didn't mention much about that at all.

Im a collector for fun not for profit but now and again if its a good game I like and theres a guide to it I will get it. I have a guide for FF7-13 (excluding 11) because theres to much to do without a guide. Other times Ill just get a guide for an obscure game where the gamefaqs is likely to suck or just to collect it since guides can go up in value for a good game.

The most worthless guide I have though is for FFIX "want to find out how to do something? psonline.com/ffix/worthlessinfothatgotremovedabout10yearsagosorrysucker" for every sidequest.

I know Ill use the FF tactics guide when I play through that.

When I was around 8 I bought the guide for Megaman Battle Network 3. It had tons of errors in it, like they threw it together in a couple of weeks. The biggest mistake was misprinting the game as being T for Teen on the guide cover!

Had the strategy guide for morrowind. Biggest damn guide I've ever seen.

I had the FF3/6 guide when the game came out. Actually a pretty large tome!

Also I have one for the Zelda games Seasons/Ages I found somewhere. I'm honestly not sure If I actually bought it or what. Coincidentally those are the only two Zelda games I've never beat.
