If you have a TV just plug in a Roku LT, its $49 with shipping, its 720p but so what.

A stand-alone device like an android tablet would bump up the cost to a minimum $200

thats not what i'm needing, it's for him to take to work he doesn't have access to a TV.

Maybe he should get his own Kindle?

Thought about that, but he doesn't do christmas (even though it's passed) and he knows i'd have to use my credit card to get a second

Then the best bet would be to buy a refurbished 1st generation iPad, its a little long in the tooth but still good enough for Netflix, and you might get it cheap enough

I use a 1st gen ipad every day and netflix works perfectly. But a third or 4th gen ipod touch could really be a cheap alternative the downsize is the small screen but is better than no screen.

Sorry if this sounds rude but your roommate works nights, asks to use your kindle fire every time he works, and doesn't have the extra money to spend $200 for his own...and you're considering buying him his own? You are a kind person.

What is your budget? And how does he have wireless internet at his workplace?

currently there isn't one per say, but if i had to say 50-100. Thats all i can afford this month, and thats using his rent >.>

Happy Cake Day!

Will look around. Though I would suggest you look at refurbished devices - might find a good deal.

Any iOS or Android device can run Netflix. Something like an iPod Touch would work. You can find off-brand Android devices for less.

Came here to post this so I'll piggy-back off of you. If OP already has an iPhone or Android phone, you would just need the free app. This would be the cheapest option.

one option would be a used phone w hdmi out, such as the evo. netflix works fine, and can be hooked up to most tv's.

another would be a nook color, rooted.
