I've crudely combined the english and esperanto dictionaries into a single dictionary. Its seemed to be working fine for english. I don't know any esperanto to test it for you. Download the xpi file and open it in firefox.

I took a lot of guessing making it so hopefully it works fine. Basically I downloaded both libraries. Extracted the xpi file (its a JAR file really). Each dictionary has two text files (a .aff and a .dic file) I just copied the two together. At the top of the on the fire is a number of entries. You have to add the two together to get the new number and thats about it.

Not a good or elegant solution, but it works.

The dictionary switcher recognizes what language you are typing after about 10 words. So, I'm just using the English firefox with the esperanto dictionary pack and the dictionary switcher.

Do those mean that combining 2 dictionaries is a bad idea?

No. Those links are to reports requesting the feature, and discussing how it can/should be added to a future version.

The desire is that in a future version what you wanted to happen would be available automatically, without needing to create a combined dictionary, but it hasn't been built yet.

Right-click textbox → Languages → Add Dictionaries.

that method only recognizes one language at the time

As I read it he weren't looking for a way to combine dictionaries, just to add an English one.

Also, at least in the latest Firefox, language choices are saved on a site-by-site basis. So you generally won't have to change it once it's set, for most sites.

I have both Spanish and English dictionaries and you have to manually change it anytime you wish to write in english or spanish

Yes, and? He were still simply asking about adding another language, nothing more.

OP complains on english words being highlighted, therefore, OP wants an automatic dictionary switcher like the one suggested by ro_ana_maria, which works great

I tried to look for an English language pack, so it would recognize both sets of words, but no luck.

He clearly said that he wanted an English language pack, nothing more. If you're willing to go the extra length in finding something that might be better, good for you. But that still doesn't change what he wrote.
