I'm on my laptop so I don't have the files handy, but I don't recall a mention in the series of what was done with the body besides spoiler. I doubt the Freys cared much about ceremony for the King in The North. What's your reason for asking?

[–]TwoFace211The King In The North[S] 2 points3 points ago

Well I was thinking about it and it made me feel sad so then I thought it would be much better if the body was somehow burried in Wenterfell crypts, but that obviously didn't happen. So then I started thinking what DID happen? Then I came here.

Don't feel too bad its not like his dad was buried there either. I think the last dead Stark to make it to the crypts was Lyanna.

I thought the silent sisters were bringing Ned north.

[–]ssjhamboneSer 2 points3 points ago

I believe Catelyn sent them north from Riverrun right before the Greyjoy's started to attack the north and take Moat Cailin. So the sisters were stuck from going further north and then the only other thing that happens in Winterfell is Theon taking it and then it burning down.

As soon as Winterfell got word of Ned's death they started to make the statue for the crypts. I remember Maester Luwin saying something like "we will need to find a mason who remembers his face well".

It's possible in DwD

Yeah I thought so to, cause doesn't one of Bran's party take a sword off Eddard when they are hiding from Theon in the crypt in ASOS?

[–]The_Kindly_Man 2 points3 points ago

Osha takes it, Bran takes Brandon's sword and Hodor takes one from Lord Rickard I think.

The Silent Sisters made it to Riverrun with Ned's remains in aCoK and were sent north with Ned's bones by Catelyn but I don't believe there was any further word and they would never have made it past the Neck in any event with Ironborn holding Moat Cailin (and then the men of the Dreadfort after them). Bottom line - no word on where Ned's mortal remains are "currently" but it looks unlikely that they'll ever reach what's left of Winterfell.

I predict Ned will get to the crypts. It's the oldest trick in the GRRM manual: if you see a situation that is portrayed as being absolutely impossible to change, it will then change. Theon is overconfident and doesn't take anything seriously. The wildlings and the Night's Watch are mortal enemies. Tywin Lannister rules his family and the realm with an iron fist. Renly's popularity with the people makes him nigh invulnerable. Margaery Tyrell is well-mannered, sweet and personable.

Every time some situation is described as static, watch out: it's about to become dynamic. We've already seen the Ironborn take Moat Cailin. How long before the Wall comes down? How long before the facade of Storm's End comes crashing down? How long before there's snow in Dorne? How long before Tyrion becomes head of House Lannister?

Well said. GRRM definitely ascribes to the old standby that the only constant is change. Of course, I'm still predicting a final scene that is told from the POV of the last living dragon overlooking an empty, scorched hell-scape totally devoid of life so you can see what I think about the idea of any of the characters feeling that they finally have things under control. I think that this may be a personal defense mechanism so as every character I like dies I can think it's all inevitable since it's Valar Morghulis writ large and literally by the end!

Can't fucking wait for The Wall to come down. It obviously will.

[–]ssjhamboneSer 0 points1 point ago

Yes but Eddard's tomb is still empty.

Just reread the last chapter for aCoK. Osha takes Eddard's sword, Meera takes Lord Rickard's(Ned's Dad) and Bran takes Brandon's(Ned's Brother).

Robb and Catelyn were thrown into the river after the Red Wedding. House Tully practices burial at sea; the Freys stripped them naked, and then dumped them in mockery.

[–]eduffyThick as a Castle Wall 18 points19 points ago

I think that was just Cat. Greywind's head was swapped with Robb's and displayed at the Twins

[–]hooner1234 11 points12 points ago

Oh God, you're right. It's even more horrific. I can't wait for the Frey's downfall.

[–]jhudsui 6 points7 points ago

Someone remembers. Off in some direction or another.

[–]reddit_clone 0 points1 point ago

Yep. A certain faceless assassin is headed their way.

[–]TwoFace211The King In The North[S] 2 points3 points ago

Wasn't the body of Robb and GW thrown in the river after or something? Why is that memory in my head, need to re-read the books I think.

[–]hooner1234 1 point2 points ago

I had to look it up on wikipedia. The last thing that was mentioned was the head-swap. I forgot about that part, and just assumed Cat and Robb's bodies were just dumped into the river.

Eddard's bones were sent from King's Landing to Riverrun, then sent with an honor guard up north in aCoK.

Speculation up to DwD

[–]HippyGeekWarden of the Moon Door 1 point2 points ago

...and very likely. Well done.

The North remembers

Oh yeah, I do remember reading that actually, thanks! :)
