Morgan Freeman. It HAS to be Morgan Freeman for maximum impact!

It was your son. From the future.

Seriously, though, do you have a blog or something? Were you in the papers on a regular basis through sports or similar? He may have come across you though something public and be related to or friends with someone else that graduated that day.

Did your family seem concerned? Definitely keep an eye out for him in the future, but he might very well be someone that gets a kick out of saying stuff like that to random people.

naw, I don't have a blog or anything like that and I was always the quiet one who never did anything public ever at all. Maybe he was just someone who gets a kick out of that. I sure would, given the right circumstances

I realize that you're a little freaked out about this, but I can really see someone doing that for fun. I still say keep an eye out for him, but there's no reason to change your life over this. Even if you were to go to the police, you don't really have anything to go on unless you took a pic.

yeah, i'm not really bothered by it, i just wanted to share. It was creepy at first but it doesn't bother me anymore

Have you applied to any colleges? Or assuming you went to high school in the US, was major did you list as wanting to pursue on your PSATs and your SATs? I know I had people "tracking" my high school performance to try and recruit me to their colleges.

You don't have a blog yet. Your son from the future obviously was reading the reddit archives, caught this post, and realized he had somewhere to be.

The guy was probably just some guy like my stepDad, who has no memory whatsoever for faces coupled with supreme self-confidence & a general desire to be nice. He is perpetually doing stuff like this, mistaking complete strangers for friends or even family members and embarking on friendly conversations with them. Most of the time they assume he is some guy they actually do know and you can see them trying to place him whilst they struggle to make some sense of whatever he's talking about, until eventually they realise he's just a harmless Magoo-type and disengage themselves from him. No matter how often this happens it never seems to dent his confidence or prevent it happening again.

One of his worst blunders was the time he had to drive 2 of my sister's friends back from a football match. They were about 13 and didn't know how to set the situation right, so at first when he spent the entire time caling them both by the wrong names & talking about people they didn't know they just assumed he was just another typical idiot parent, and it was only after they'd been in the car on the motorway for about an hour longer than the trip home needed that he finally realised by the rising terror in their faces that by now they thought he was some crazy serialkiller abducting them.

It turned out that somehow he'd confused them with the daughters of my Mother's friend and thought he had to drive them home there, rather than the 10 minutes down the road where they actually lived.

tl:dr - sometimes creepy guys are just someone's bewildered but well-meaning relative.

does your step dad have prosopagnosia?

Not that I know of. He's just permanently distracted and thinking of something else whatever he's doing, so nothing ever actually gets enough of his full atention to register. The something else he's usually thinking of is usually either his bees or his cows. I swear he is better at recognising cattle than people.

Some dark, distant, thirteen year old part of my soul just squealed and clapped her hands. I want to be the Slayer. Grump.

Well, did you see the last episode? All teenage girls are slayers!

Or something... I'm not sure, it wasn't clear, really.

All the potentials became Slayers, not all the teenagers.

And all the teenage girls were potentials! Or maybe partials. Or they became really good at softball. Or something.

At our college graduation last June, some woman went up to my friend after she got her diploma and gave her a big hug. To this day, we don't know who she was.

Oh please oh please I hope he looked like this.

I'd put my money on either a mean prank, or more realistically, a family member of a fellow student/friend who may have been saying really nice things about you, and this man felt compelled to congratulate you on your accomplishment(s).

Two options:

A: It was a rando who likes freaking people out / "inspiring" them.

B. It was someone who knows you, and that you can't ID.

I'd place my money on A, and besides, if its B, he's a pro and you shouldn't worry about him.

[–]counteraxe 3 points4 points ago

I think A. It sounds to me like she got trolled at her graduation.

Don't go on any flights that pass over Fiji. You'll end up fucking around on an island for several years just so you can officially die.

Last year I was approached in the mall by an elderly woman who said, "I have a very good feeling about you, please call me and I can tell you more about this." She handed me a business card that read "TAROT READINGS" and an address and phone number.

I was pretty freaked out, too, because it was so random. At the same time I was intrigued, but I shook it off as a scam. I still have that card though...
