I get just about everything from either http://www.smartpowders.com or http://vitacost.com.

Smart powders is good for the racetams, while all the other stuff (choline, huperzine, etc) is easy enough to find at just about any big supplement site. I just ended up sticking with vitacost.

The only thing I can think of that doesn't come from one of those two is the adrafinil, which I think I got from the UK via http://www.biogenesis-antiaging.com/

Piracetam and Modafinil require prescriptions in Australia. I tried figuring out how to procure these, but have failed so far.

I've seen Deprenyl for sale on nubrain.com. Also modafinil and adrafinil. Is this site legitimate? Where else can these be found?

Some of the most common nootropics aren't controlled in the USA (Piracetam, Aniracetam, Vinpocetine, the reversible cholinesterase inhibitors, etc). The only time I've had to use an online pharmacy was for Deprenyl and Modafinil (both of which I think are overrated). I found a trustworthy yet pricey site by reading recommendations, it's not a foolproof process but it worked for me.

So how you go about acquiring these depends on at least two things, the country you live in and which nootropics you'd like to purchase.

Piracetam and Aniracetam are both pretty far up there on the nootropics reputation scale. Both of them are legal to import the last time I did. I was buying off of a company that maintained a website out of Britain(London I think, they liquidated their stock though).

You have to figure that most of the products are designed for a month or so, they're kind of expensive, and the people buying them are probably not on very many drugs that weaken the mind.

While that doesn't guarantee that you won't be ripped off it makes it less likely because of the value of repeat business and reputation. Scammers tend to have warning signs up, intentional or no, but check your bank account right after you buy anyway.

As far as I've been able to tell, piracetam is even legal to sell as a supplement in the US, but I haven't found any brick and mortar stores that do. Very curious.

Edit:

Upon further searching, GNC does carry at least one product which contains piracetam (it seems that their search function is just really crappy), although they don't appear to carry it in their stores. But that does seem to confirm that it can be sold in the US as a supplement (unless GNC is using some kind of loophole by offering it online only).

I have found GNC outrageously overpriced.

Yes, they are, but I was mostly trying to establish whether it is in principle possible to find piracetam in actual stores.

Yea, sorry, I was just relating my one experience with GNC and being aghast at how vastly they were overcharging. I didn't intend to undermine the information you were sharing.

I personally was flabbergasted when I compared melatonin* prices between a GNC and the grocery store next to it - the difference was at least an order of magnitude.

* I find melatonin, incidentally, really cheap and useful; in the sense that you're dumber if you don't get good sleep, I consider it a nootropic.

yes, melatonin is vital for me too (and also pleasantly cheap). although I try to use as little as possible so as not to become too dependent on it to fall asleep.

I calculate my cost at about 2 cents per dose/night. :)

I'm a total novice but I bought 10 modalerts (modafinil) from Airsealed. Delivered to the UK in just over a week. (From all my research, importing non-controlled drugs - and modafinil isn't, in the UK - into the UK is legal for personal use.. otherwise I wouldn't have done it). Items seem to be the real deal, though as I'm bi-polar, I don't think they're having as much an effect on me as for most normal users.
