Roller coasters, im terrified of heights

o___o

[–]rydain 0 points1 point ago

So am I, but I love roller coasters. The slow ascent still gets to me though - especially when I rode Millennium Force at Cedar Point (300-some feet, shudder).

my mom brought space jam home to us one day when my brother and i were little. i didn't like it very much, it wasn't my taste but my brother loved it. it's the first thing he would do when he got home from school, space jam. come to find out it was only the real space jam from the nasa gift shop the first time, the other jars were just the same jar that my mom would refill with peanut butter and jelly mixed.

I love you. Your stories are like listening to a 4 year old tell you about their life. It amazing.

[–]AlexxxG12 4 points5 points ago

This was your best shitty story.

[–]godisanalien 2 points3 points ago

Totally thought you were talking about the movie with Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunny.

[–]Swiss_Cheese9797[S] 3 points4 points ago

Read, didn't get, re-read.... look at username, FUK!

[–]morgueanna 1 point2 points ago

New Kids On the Block. In 8th grade I was taunted mercilessly for saying they were crap.

[–]kewester 3 points4 points ago

Pogs. Never got the point

The year was 1999. I refused to acknowledge Puff Daddy as an artist or musician. I was shunned by my fellow high-schoolers and forced into hiding on the Punk Rock scene.

2 years later, got onto the opening band stage at Warped Tour so, totally worth it.

[–]Marcob10 0 points1 point ago

Those were the good years of the warped tour.

[–]raygun27 0 points1 point ago

You made the best choice ever.

[–]Beer_Is_Food 0 points1 point ago

Puff Daddy... is that the cereal that turns the milk to chocolate milk when you eat it?

[–]skiptomylou1231 3 points4 points ago

Pokemon was so big when I was in elementary school but I never really got into it. Kids would get in fights all the time over those damn cards.

[–]Marcob10 0 points1 point ago

Same for me.

I think that in general kids in my school didn't get caught as much as others into the pokemon craze. I've watched a few episodes of the first season but that's it. I don't recall seeing many kids playing the card game or the video games.

The first pokemon game I played was the silver one on gameboy advance in senior highschool.

[–]iglidante 5 points6 points ago

Everyone liked the cartoon "Doug", but the main character's awkward pining after a girl in his class hit a little too close to home for 10-year-old me. I could barely watch an episode without wanting to hide.

Power Rangers and Pokemon. Don't hurt me...

[–]chrissysharpe- 2 points3 points ago

Wiz Khalifa. Repeating BLACK AND YELLOW shouldn't be called music and it really tickles my lemons.

[–]SmokeSomething 1 point2 points ago

Don't hate me.... Power Rangers... I hated them and always thought the X-Men would beat them up.... even with their giant robot (not sure what they called it, I never liked them)... I mean if wolverine can take down a sentinel solo... how would those guys stand a chance.

[–]brownpanther 3 points4 points ago

Butt sex. I grew up in DuPont circle...

[–]tool46and2 4 points5 points ago

I'll start...

[–]johnnybegoode 3 points4 points ago

Yes, thank you. This is so goddamn aggravating to me.

[–]kiff78 2 points3 points ago

Yu gi oh and beyblade in elementary school. I couldn't get what's so fascinating about tops.

Also Nexopia in middle school

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago*

Barbies. The only time I played with the ones I was given were when they acted as hostages to be rescued by the G.I. Joes I stole from my brother. I built elaborate traps and prisons out of old shoe boxes. I was kind of a weird kid.

Nintendo.

Um... Guys? Can we go outside now? Guys? Ok, fuck it, I'm going outside.

[–]Duggur[!] 1 point2 points ago

Game Boys, and especially Pokémon on Game Boy. I loved the TCG and the cartoons, but that shit never got me.

[–]kl365a 1 point2 points ago

HyperColor!!

[–]HappyPantsEd 0 points1 point ago

Back then: Wearing jeans or being fashionable. I practically only wore khaki pants that were too large for me (hand me downs) and a black jacket everday. I was teased for it.

Now: Listening to dub step. I honestly can't see or hear any appeal to grinding metal screeches that can be compared to transformers having sex. I also don't like the rave scene either. The amount of drugs there disturbs me.

[–]StaceyLynn84 1 point2 points ago

My Little Pony. New Kids on the Block. I also never got into Saturday Night Live, Seinfeld or American Idol.

[–]Nebakanezzer 0 points1 point ago

pokemon, dragon ball z, and harry potter.

I know I am against the masses here, and that is the point of this topic. By the time they came out I was in my teens and preoccupied with trying to get a girlfriend, not, trying to stretch out my childhood as long as possible. They just seemed really corny and kiddish. I'd go over my friend's house, and we'd all be playing goldeneye or listening to 90s rap then all of a sudden someone would break out pokemon cards or start talking about making a comic book with dragon ball z... at which point i would proclaim "gayfest" and go home.

[–]another_name 0 points1 point ago

GI Joe.

Transformers were way cooler.

[–]secretz 0 points1 point ago

New Kids On The Block.

[–]CallieMadra 0 points1 point ago

Sticker books.

It's recess! our big chance to run around like crazy 6 year olds! Wait what? Everyone just wants to sit in a circle and trade stickers? This is fucking boring.

I'm going to go play tag with the boys who aren't into collecting stickers.

Ugg stickers!

Tamagotchi

Pokemon...I never played the pokemon game when I was a child .__.

Dating black guys...

[–]worldinflames 0 points1 point ago

scooters, like the razor kick scooters never got into it. never saw the interest it just seemed like skateboarding with a handle.

[–]PretzelJax -1 points0 points ago

Yu-Gi-Oh! for me. I loved Pokemon, tried out Digimon, but was done by the time Yu-Gi-Oh! became trendy.

[–]phenolsolution 1 point2 points ago

Seinfeld. Just never found it appealing.

[–]Swiss_Cheese9797[S] -2 points-1 points ago

So what's the deal with this guy contemplating what the deal is with airplane food...

[–]CharismaticKiller -1 points0 points ago

One night stands.

[–]buhfest 0 points1 point ago

Pokemon.

There were a lot of weird fads in my town when I was in junior high in the 1970s. For a while, everyone was eating pomegranates. Then, for a while, everyone was eating chocolate Ex-Lax. There were a bunch of things like that where I just shook my head and, for brief moments, thanked $DEITY that I was an outcast.

Also, Saturday Night Live, because our little boonie town only had live CBC and two-days-late CTV from Edmonton on TV at the time, so whenever I was visiting people in southern Canada, I'd hear all about this insanely cool show that everyone was watching....

[–]swordbuddha 1 point2 points ago

I never watched "Saved By The Bell" when it was on the air. Never interested me but aparently everyone else in my age group just LOVED it.

[–]Nebakanezzer 0 points1 point ago

zack had a cell phone before they were cool! also, before they were smaller than a shoebox

[–]Timetobuzzthetower 1 point2 points ago

Not exactly "growing up" but when I was a freshman, Everyone in my dorm got caught up in a Texas Hold 'Em craze. Dumb.

[–]pics-or-didnt-happen 1 point2 points ago

I loved that craze. All of a sudden there are a bunch of 18-year-old kids showing up in the poker rooms, getting drunk on the free beer and giving me all their money.

Don't see this so much anymore.

SO BRAVE

[–]rydain 0 points1 point ago

Not necessarily - you don't actually have to put text in your post.

[–]Darrian 0 points1 point ago

Anything Disney. As a 90's kid this seems to be a big deal. I just never turned that channel on.

[–]da_bbq 0 points1 point ago

Wrestling and Disney movies.

[–]billymonk -3 points-2 points ago

at the same time?!

[–]da_bbq -1 points0 points ago

Crazy right? Everyone else was all about "Who would win in a fight between Ariel vs Mufasa?", while I sat in the corner playing with Pokemon cards.

[–]There-Wolf 0 points1 point ago

Power rangers and Spice girls.

[–]PikoStarsider 0 points1 point ago

Saint Seiya. And to a lesser degree, Dragon Ball, but I loved it one decade later when I read the whole comic. I still don't get Saint Seiya. In my country it was called "Los caballeros del zodiaco" (zodiac's knights?).

[–]Elegia 0 points1 point ago

Soccer.

[–]shankrabbit 0 points1 point ago

Every dude in high school was into Britney Spears (when she just started).

I have always thought she was ugly as sin.

[–]RichOfTheJungle 0 points1 point ago

TV: Full House and Saved by the Bell

Movies: Willy Wonka and The Goonies

[–]cerealpaddlefile -3 points-2 points ago

Sarcasm. people seem to find this funny, its condescending and makes you seem like an asshole. also jokes at people's expenses.

[–]Constam -1 points0 points ago

Soda. It's just fizzy sugar water, never saw the point. Now that I'm old enough to drink beer I understand the point of soda (get kids hooked early), but I still don't drink it.

[–]gistragnize -3 points-2 points ago

superheroes. x-men, power rangers, batman, superman. People are blown away and ask what the hell i did as a little kid. Well my dudes, while you were inside watching cartoons, i was outside building ramps made of bricks and wood and jumping them with bikes, skateboard, inline skates. Yea, i was one badass 5 year old.
