What's wrong with this picture?
Attributes of a printer that doesn't suck:
- Relatively cheap but won't break after a year
- USB-connected. Ethernet or WiFi a bonus.
- Toner that doesn't cost twice as much as the printer itself
- Somewhat smaller than the giant beasts made for offices
- Acceptable colour reproduction. I don't expect photo-quality or anything.
- Still works if 1 colour is out.
- Decent drivers. Linux support via cups/gutenprint/whatever a big plus.
Given the above I don't really care if it's slow as shit or noisy as fuck.

I am sick of "Gillette Business Model" inkjet printers that print 20 pages before running out of ink or getting clogged up with crap and forever after adding nasty horizontal lines to images, even after repeated "cleaning" cycles. Not to mention the print heads drying up after not being used for a while.
