I've used the MyVu glasses before, and they work pretty well. They're at least the less dorky looking style at most trade booths I've seen.

Would fitting goggles like these with some kind of accelerometer, like we have in phones, be a good idea?

When using them with a computer you would be able to have a 1920x1200 virtual screen, and the goggles would only show like 640x480 (or whatever resolution they have) of them at a time, but you could change your view just by moving your head! You could have as huge a virtual screen as you want this way.
