Kinda off topic, but I enjoy the Asus 1005, 7-8 hours battery life, 5 when watching movies or gaming. A little bit bigger than a "ultra thin" book, but you can get one for like 300 bucks.

*1005HE I believe.

Can you full-screen flash video on that? I think an Atom without Ion is just a little too underpowered.

Depends. I've got an Acer Aspire AOA-110 (the early 8gig garbage-SSD model). I've got no problems playing Hulu content on its screen or output to external monitor. It's not that the GMA-type chipset models can't play Flash, they won't play 720P/1080P content to any acceptable frame of reference (at least mine won't).

That said, with the availability of ION chipset and/or the Broadcom HD accelerator mini-PCIe module, you should definitely opt for the newer models.

I've never had a problem with it. Hulu is a little slow at times in full screen, but Netflix runs great.

Get a MacBook Pro? I accidentally SAT on my 15 inch MBP, screen side facing up, for about 10 mins. I panicked when I realized I was sitting on it, then took it out and found out there is no dent in the lid or any damage whatsoever.

I just checked out Apple's page. I didn't even realize they had a 13 inch model. That just made the shortlist, assuming I find a few extra hundred bucks in the budget.

Thanks!

I got the new ASUS EEEpc 1201N. It has ION. Good sized screen with higher resolution than other netbooks, good macbook like keyboard, and light weight. Decent with games, but I don't play anything that intensive. Others say it works well with new FPSes and WOW with various settings. I've played full screen streaming video, but not with Hulu. Been disappointed with HULU, but I read on various places that it will improve with the new version of Flash. I don't like playing with betas. Overall for 490$, I am very happy with it. Just know its that piano black and gets lots of fingerprints. You should probably get the silver one.

I've got an Acer 3810TZ that I quite like. 13", 3lb, 5-8 hr battery life, 1.3GHz processor. It can fullscreen flash, but it skips a bit on some full HD playback. $550 when I got it.
