I'd love to know if there is anything cheaper with similar functionality... pretty please?

There is no escaping the grip of Wacom. Pick up up an older Bamboo.

I really really hate it when "the wise man from the internet" really does not know any better than me :)

Not at all. I bought my Intuos3 for $349 3 years ago and I would get this new model if only I had any issue with my Intuos3, but the thing works just perfect, looks perfect and I have only changed the mat once.

Damn you Wacom for building such good quality so we cannot keep buying more of your new stuff!!!

Well, I got a used Intuos3, and it conked out 9 months into its life. I would be a bit more forgiving if it were easier or cheap to fix them (like an appliance instead of a peripheral), but when Wacoms go down, they go down hard. I like my bamboo, but I wasn't too keen on dropping another $100 ($150?) on it. Wacom would do well to have a little legitimate competition chomping at its heels.

automatic downvote for linking to gizmodo. Since when gizmodo reviews are worth anything anyway.

Here's a real review by a reputable source: http://www.cnet.com.au/wacom-intuos4-wireless-339300834.htm
