This is awesome, I wasn't losing my micro sd's fast enough.
[–]m-p-3 16 points17 points18 points 1 year ago
Pay coffee
Uh oh, where is my MicroSD card..?

[–]LeonGrey 3 points4 points5 points 1 year ago
"Quick, give me all of your nickels!"
"No."
"... damn it."
[–]nickfil 15 points16 points17 points 1 year ago
i would absolutely spend my data.
[–]Lurking_Grue 2 points3 points4 points 1 year ago
Put some interesting data and then spend it in a vending machine.
[–]nickfil 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago
that is a great idea.... but what to put in there...
oh i know! Pictures of my cock and one picture of a kitten.
[–]mrpappy 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago
If the internet has taught me anything, a collections of pictures must contain cock, kittens and a recipe for a really tasty sandwich.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago
You ready for your cockmeat sandwich?
[–]fpaudon 11 points12 points13 points 1 year ago
Great, now I'm going to be attempting to pry open every nickel I get for the rest of my life.
[–]AngryData 2 points3 points4 points 1 year ago
They would probably feel lighter than normal so you could just try it with ones that seem light.
[–]MrSurly 9 points10 points11 points 1 year ago
Great, now I'll be weighing every nickel I get for the rest of my life.
[–]tdehnel 3 points4 points5 points 1 year ago
They might actually be weighted like normal so you could just try it with ones that seem hollow.
[–]SarahC 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago
Very subtle difference I imagine...
Probably not noticeable if you're not concentrating on individual weights of nickels.
[–]AngryData 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago
You could also flick the coin in the air and it would make a very different sound than a solid coin.
[–]sheerheartattack 20 points21 points22 points 1 year ago
It's not like Micro SD cards are the hardest thing to conceal in the first place...
Actually, I'll just be blunt - these things are fucking retarded.
[–]Anthaneezy 7 points8 points9 points 1 year ago
sometimes hiding something in plain sight is more secure. haven't you learned anything from movies?
[–]sheerheartattack 18 points19 points20 points 1 year ago
To compound the stupidity, if you were to hide something in plain sight, the absolute worst place to hide it in is money.
[–]bamfb2 8 points9 points10 points 1 year ago
For me, it would be my car keys.
[–]Anthaneezy 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago
great point, you got me there...
[–]SarahC 3 points4 points5 points 1 year ago
Micro SD cards
I want to make a Striped and Mirrored RAID array of them in a little square USB device, that I can just add MSD cards into to increase speed/storage space (without reformatting).
There's things like it, but they don't have that functionality. =(
[–]MrSurly 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago
Look, it's not as if anybody has access to any sort of data network or strong encryption; we need these.
[–]yellowking 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago
These things are novel.
[–]skeesicks 4 points5 points6 points 1 year ago
It would be more useful to have a secret compartment in something you don't regularly give away in exchange for goods and services.
Like your house key for example.
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 1 year ago
Why's that? If you're trying to keep it on your person at all times, I'm sure you could do a lot better than a coin or even house keys.
I imagine the value of these is that you can easily transfer the data to another in the form of something you "regularly give away," thus making them extremely inconspicuous if used correctly.
[–]skwigger 3 points4 points5 points 1 year ago
these are awesome, but I wish they were cheaper. it would justify my impulse buying.
[–]turkourjurbs 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago
So do you have to be a spy to have one or were they previously owned by spys or does having one automatically make you a spy? What if I don't want to do anything spy-ish with it? What if it comes already loaded with classified documents? You could go to jail for that shit. You know, these things sound like nothing but trouble. I'd avoid them or ninjas or some shit will be all up in your ass before you know it.

Does anybody else feel James Bond as fuck when they use a Micro SD card or a quality camera phone?
Just 15 years ago one of Bond's gadgets was a cell with a camera in it.
The spy-ness of a 64gb Micro SD card is mindblowing. You could have smuggled the every state document in 60's Soviet Russia out of the country under your fingernail without anybody knowing. Microfilm was astonishing then, imagine fitting all the 3D CAD models of the newest fighter plane in the same space.
[–]rayx 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago
Um, I don't think 64GB Micro SD cards exist yet. The highest available are 16GB.
Unless you meant 64 gigabits, which of course, are readily available from your local pharmacy.
[–]CC440 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago
Not too far away though, 32gb are available I believe.
[–]mrgames2 2 points3 points4 points 1 year ago
I like the hollowed out bolt, but 37 bucks is a lot of nickels.
[–]tallwookie 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago
so the coins are technically worth more than their face value, right?
[–]dylanevl 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago
You can put your weed in there.
[–]mattindustries 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago
When these are x-rayed they will show there is something hiding inside... in case anyone was wondering. Thinkgeek also sells them.
[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 1 year ago
FYI, it's not exactly a new concept
[–]krush_groove 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago
They do kind of mention that on the site: 'We started off marketing these as Cold War reproductions, but soon found that they are just as useful today for a secure method of hiding data.'
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 1 year ago
You can find hollow coins at magic shops. Someone finally found something worthwhile to put in them.
[–]krush_groove -2 points-1 points0 points 1 year ago
I would love one of these, but they are a bit pricey!
[–]casspa -2 points-1 points0 points 1 year ago
So, it's illegal to alter currency only if it's intent is fraudulent. But wouldn't this kind of fall under that category?
[–]bluebovine -2 points-1 points0 points 1 year ago
I don't know why I would need one of these, but I want it anyway!
all it takes is a username and password
create account
is it really that easy? only one way to find out...
already have an account and just want to login?
